Will Specsavers think I'm nuts?!

Hi,
Picked up my new glasses at the weekend. They fit well, vision is good. It's just... They are quite different to the frames I tried on in store, and I just don't like them as much.
To try and explain, they are a mottled/ tortoiseshell frame. The ones I tried on in store were darker, they had more dark brown bits on. The ones I've just collected have lots of pale areas.
They haven't made a mistake, it's just a variation in the style. But it's all I see when I look in the mirror.
They do a 100 day no quibble returns thing. But will I be laughed out of the store for asking for an exchange based on the reason above? I hate to make a fuss. But they've got to be on my face for the next couple of years!
Any advice welcome, thank you.

Why would you be laughed out of the store? If they do a 100 day no quibble return, you just say exactly what you put here about the pattern variation. There's nothing odd, unusual or embarrassing about that surely?

Take them back and ask for a refund/exchange! Glasses are expensive and as you say they are going to be on your face for two years so you need to like them. I'm surprised that they are so different to the ones you tried on in store though because usually Specsavers seem to take the actual pair I tried on and send them away for glazing. They are all franchises though so maybe your store does it differently, but if you want to order this style again where there is likely to be colour variance you could ask to have the exact frames you tried on.

That "No Quibble" was invented for this

Take them back

I returned mine because I didn’t like the colour of the frames on my face. They were fine about it. They did try to convince me they looked good on me, but I insisted that I didn’t like them! It was straightforward to do. Just went in, didn’t need to make an appointment.

Take them back

I had two pairs of glasses from Specsavers, chose my frames but when they arrived and I tried them on again they just looked enormous…they let me choose new ones under the 100 day no quibble scheme without any debate at all, in fact they were really nice about it, and I’m now very happy in my new specs 😉

Glasses are expensive and very visible - of course it’s ok to ask for replacement if they don’t look like the ones you tried. If they’re the same frame just with less pale bits hopefully they can swap the same lenses.

They happily took my prescription sunglasses back when I had said that I didn't need sunglasses to be multi-focal and then realised that I couldn't read the satnav.😆

I had similar from Specsavers. They were a sort of mottled pattern of various blues. The ones I tried on in store were much lighter blue than the ones I was actually given. When I questioned it I was told that because they are plastic/acrylic frames, the particular style are cut from a patterned sheet, many pairs at the same time, so the pattern and colour placement varies. Annoying, but nothing they could really do about it!

The variation in colour shouldn't be that different that they look like different frames- YES, take them back!

On a side note, SS once replaced the lenses in my existing frames- with the exact same prescription I'd had before. They refused to believe that they were wrong, because the old lenses were in the bag. This year I went to asda and saved £300 on the quote SS had given me for very similar glasses. I'd never use SS again.

Thanks for all the replies, I've just been back. They were super nice about it and said they could understand my issue. Unfortunately, I wasn't allowed to have the display pair (store policy not to sell them apparently), but they have ordered me another pair of the same frames and put a note on the order saying 'customer prefers darker pattern.' When they arrive, I can go and see if they're okay and then they will swap my new lenses into them. And if I'm still not happy, I can have something different.
So all in all, they couldn't have been more helpful, and I was worrying over nothing (as usual!) Thanks again all x
