Can you tell your family members by their dinner plates?

just a bit of fun!

I’ll start -
My DS (14) absolutely cleans his plate. No matter what is given to him he doesn’t leave a thing.
My DD (5) is a minimal eater and will probably leave 7 out of 10 chips and half of pie.
I eat most of my dinner but will always have a little left (4 chips or a few bits of pasta etc)

if no one was at the table would you be able to tell who ate from what plate?

🤣 yes I can always tell whose dirty pots are whose! Two adult sons living with me at the moment one leaves a messy plate and half drunk cups of tea, the other neat and tidy with everything eaten/drank.1

Carelessebba · 13/02/2026 00:39

No, because I don’t make the plates. We put the dishes on the table and everyone helps themselves to how much or how little they want.

So that’s where my kids are 🤣🤣

DrPrunesqualer · 13/02/2026 00:44

No I couldn’t tell because they take as much as they want and just take more if they want it
Plates are left empty but thats mainly because I’m such an amazing cook 😇🤣

Just out of curiosity - is the oldest the neat and tidy one?

And yes, I can tell who’s had what plate!

DramaAlpaca · 13/02/2026 00:50

Nah, by the time the dog's finished with the plates you can't tell the difference.

VashtaNerada · 13/02/2026 03:25

YES. My plate is always completely clean. DS always overestimates the ketchup and leaves a massive dollop on his plate. DD is picky. DH eats everything but doesn’t ’mop up’ every morsel like me so there’s always crumbs / sauce left. Makes it very easy to tell off anyone who doesn’t put their plate in the dishwasher!

Rayqueen2026 · 13/02/2026 06:50

Erm no there's 11 of us and every plate is cleared every night and quite often the boys have seconds, once finished it's automatic plate, cups and own cutlery put in dishwasher

CharlieHotelAlphaAlphaLimaIndigo · 13/02/2026 07:51

@VashtaNerada hahah the ketchup! My son loves it but again he’ll not leave a drop of that on the plate either.
my daughter drags the chips through her ketchup so always has the little lines on the plate 🤣

@Rayqueen2026 11! Wow that must be a fun dinner time. Does everyone pretty much eat the same meal or do you have to make variations for any of them?

No actually I've got three, eldest lives abroad and is very messy with everything, never forget his student halls when collecting him 😳 its youngest who is neat and tidy. Middle one has moved back in temporarily and he's the messy one🤷
All boys😃

@IsThisTheWaytoSlamMyPillow
Our eldest is the tidiest. Super organised, his room is like an office
Food wise he eats the same all the time and isn’t an adventurous cook. It’s food to survive

Then twins
one is a nightmare everything on the floor and no washing done. Yep @Mossstitch still going through the Uni pick ups there
Food wise hes hugely into healthy cooking and cooks adventurous meals .. if he can find the pans

His twin brother another very organised everything in its place one. But more interested in making his space comfortable
Food wise he’s somewhere between the other two

All boys. All completely different.
At least they eat all my food, it’s one of the few things they have in common
