Politicians talking to camera...

Just watching Rachel Reeves do a piece to camera on Sky.

Why do they make the poor employees of the company stand in the background? They all look like they're in a hostage situation.

Just get out and talk to normal people and do normal interviews, all these set pieces to one camera are just a total waste of everyone's time. If I was an MD and got an email asking for a set piece in my workspace, I'd put it in the spam folder.

Many years ago we had Tony Blair come to our offices while he was prime minister as part of a visit to the new business park our offices were in.

Our company absolutely jumped at the opportunity, we were a fairly small company and it was great publicity, got us in national news papers and pushed our sales enquiries through the roof for a couple of weeks. I don't think there's many companies that would turn down the opportunity for a bit of free publicity from the governement.

They didn't struggle for people to stand behind him in the photos. Even people who were known to loathe Blair were angling to get their photos in the paper.

I totally agree, they generally look like they have been dragged there against their will and would prefer to be getting on with their jobs than being human wallpaper.

I think it's definitely worse now and way more staged. People just don't even pretend to look happy to be there, publicity or no publicity.

Company I work for turned down having Sunak rock up when he was PM.

I can imagine our CEO telling Starmer to “jump in the fucking Thames” if he tried it.
