Has anyone gone from moderate caffeine intake to caffeine free? What were the benefits for you?

I drink a tea first thing, then two insane coffees in the morning and a finaL tea mid afternoon.

I always get to fine but then sleep is really disrupted from in the early hours until morning and it is killing me.

I take magnesium and am on a high dose of HRT, so I don't have those tools left to try.

caffeine reduction is one that I know I need to (very reluctantly) try.

has anyone done this and had real benefits (sleep or other!). Thanks!

I've never been a coffee drinker but could have had 10+ cups of tea a day. I stopped when I was waking at 3am with palpations and having borderline panic attacks, all ultimately from caffeine. I went cold turkey, 3 day headache and I haven't looked back. I drink decaf tea now, usually 2-3 cups a day and praise the gods for decaf coke zero when I need a sugar hit. I do find even too much decaf tea has me a bit jittery though, they are never fully caffeine free.

I've just read an article about research showing that moderate caffeine intake (tea or coffee) reduces the risk of alzheimer's by a significant amount.

I honestly didn't notice any difference

Unfortunately sleep deprivation (in my case exacerbated by caffeine) increases Alzheimer's risk, so guess it's a risk assessment for each of us to make.

I switched my 9 mugs of tea a day from caffeinated to decaf, and noticed no difference whatsoever. No withdrawal symptoms either.

I drink too much coffee, not the amount of cups but the spoonfuls. I like a strong coffee, I add 3 to 4 teaspoons to a normal sized mug, fill halfway with water then add milk. I know its too much, but I just cannot get a coffee that hits the spot. M&S do a lovely one i tried, I just needed 2 spoons 😂😂
I'd love to reduce because of the amount of peeing for a start.
I should try the decaf markies one recommended up thread. X

I went v low caffeine 18 months ago due to high blood pressure and chronic rosacea. I had about 4 cups of instant over the day and an espresso during the morning. The three day headache was vile, but I survived.
Important improvements have been significant sleep reset- sleep really well now, no panic attacks in the night, rosacea cleared up and has not come back. Blood pressure significantly lowered. Anxiety much better. I very occasionally have a coffee if I am doing a long drive, it’s like an awakeness superpower now!

Forgot to add, have 1-2 small cups of decaf instant now per day. No tea, no coke, v little chocolate.

I had to cut it out because of a heart condition. I still have a little bit in Coke now and again but that’s it.

I had an awful few days of terrible headaches at first but it’s been fine since and I’m having much fewer attacks of my heart condition so it really was worth it for me.

I can’t say if it’s affected my sleep in any way as that’s always been fucked up from fibromyalgia and it’s got even worse now I’m in perimenopause so I don’t think I’m sleeping any better but at least it’s helped with my main reason for cutting it out.
