Poor DD’s eyes were swollen last night, infact she looked positively stoned ! This is them this morning, conjunctivitis yes? The amount of goo in her eyes was amazing. She’s been poorly with a temp, is this a secondary infection?

Call 111 and get advice. Here you get a call back from a dr. Check on your dr website yo see if there is another out of hours number too.

It's pretty strict on the 2 and up age limit I'm afraid, and yeah, if its cellulitis the pharmacy can't help, but they can maybe direct you to where you should go and how quickly you need to action it

Gona call 111 instead

Does no one in the uk have access to an emergency gp out of hours? What is going on over there? Here in Ireland we have emergency gps in the evenings and on weekends!? Ffs!

edited to add I see people talking about out of hours care!! Thank god!

Edited

There are out of hours Gp's accesssd by the 111 system. But you can't just 'pop the little one into your GP's' on a Sunday morning. There are some walk in clinics in designated places etc

it it's definitely not a case of ring your GP any morning. Let alone a Sunday morning.

The fever part is a little concerning . Normally just the gunky eyes. So calling 111 do mention it . Hopefully there is an Out of Hours doctor near you that you can take her to. Poor thing .

Let us know what they say. I hope you can get something for her soon. But definitely bathe them, it's relief for her & no harm with cooled boiled water no matter what it is x

Babies often get a temperature with conjunctivitis, it's viral.

yes ours is a mix of the system you have there except we call it “Caredoc” you call them out of hours to get an appointment. Or there’s private walk in GP practices.

We did role play with teddies first. Helped her understand what to expect and she was a star.

C152 · 08/02/2026 09:44

Yes, it looks like conjunctivitis to me. Fill a mug with boiling water, stir in a teaspoon of salt and let the water cool down. Then clean your DD's eyes with cottonwool dipped in the sterile salt water. Just wipe gently from the inside corner of the eye out to the outer corner, and don't reuse a dirty cotton ball. (Wash your hands before and after cleaning her eyes.). DS had this every time he was really ill.

How is she, OP?

How is she, OP?

Thank you for asking 😊 we saw a gp, lovely lady, she prescribed the eye drops dd needed, she also said her tonsils look big but not spots and she think the conjunctivitis is a secondary infection from a virus, we’re all full of cold tbf so makes sense !
