At the end of our tethers with roof leaks!

We have a 4-bed detached house and have a persistent leak coming through into an upstairs bedroom. Over the last 3-4 years, we have had 3 different roofers (at significant expense running into thousands) work on it to repair the area of roof, which should have fixed the problem but each time we have substantial rain it continues to get damp patches. Now we have 2 other areas downstairs affected, and the original leaky patch appears to have developed mould. Frustrated to the hilt - any advice! Can we get the last lot of roofers back to have a look and try to fix it free of charge?

I have a small leak in my roof. The problem leaks tend to be channels where two angles of the roof meet, and a lot of water runs down them to collect in the gutters.

I just put a big plastic container underneath the leak. Now the water drips into the container. There is not a huge amount coming through but it at least protects the ceiling until I can be bothered to get it fixed.

So I would go up and take a look at your roof inside the loft and see whether there is anything you can do to at least temporarily stop the water wrecking the ceilings. Make sure you put the container on something stable, not just supported by soggy plasterboard. Otherwise it might end up in your bedroom. And check it every couple of days at the start to figure out how much water is coming through.

What you can and can't persuade your roofers to do is another issue.
