Best present for a new mum

My brother's wife is having a c-section as I type this! I remember after having my first baby, my sister bought me new pyjamas and a dressing gown, and it honestly felt like the best thing since sliced bread to be able to put on a brand new cosy dressing gown after the whole ordeal and when snuggled up with my newborn. So I'm thinking of doing the same for my SIL. Also contemplating other present ideas as mums go through so much with pregnancy and birth, and everybody turns up with presents for the baby and mum doesn't always get to feel appreciated for what they've just been through.
What would have been your ideal gift to receive after giving birth?

healthy filling food. Being able to cook after that was impossible. I just wanted to eat something nice and nutritious wothut the hassle. Costa coffee voucher to so when I was able to get up I went on the bus to town and was able to have a drink and cake with baby and some chill time

If the mum had gestational Diabetes bring pastries and cake. I had it and I made pastries the price for anyone wishing to see the new baby 😝

A healthy home cooked meal taken round for them!

If it’s not their first then offers of help with the older, take to park to burn some energy etc

Cook vouchers. That said, we recently got a colleague a Rockit for her pram and she described it as the best thing she got as it saves her from hours of rocking.

When I had DD my Mum bought me a rather nice handbag
I must admit I did think WTF? BUT then I realised she was telling me that I was still me and could still enjoy non baby related things

I’d much rather a handbag than food. I hated when people brought food round after I’d been hospitalised (not childbirth). It felt like a chore to sort it out, store it and fit it into our eating plans. I won’t deny some got binned as it got too old. Chocolate would be well received by me too

Snacks! (And I don't mean healthy ones 😂), I mean junk. And I didn't get this but what would have been nice was a coffee shop voucher for chains as I used to used the drive through during car naps and could enjoy a coffee and cake in peace). And as someone already said, things like the cook ready meals are great but I'd check with brother that they haven't stocked the freezer first as some people are organised. I wouldn't have wanted pyjamas or a dressing gown but would have appreciated fluffy socks

Cook meals do a package for new parents. They were great and you can cook from frozen.

Thermos coffee cup with a lid and handle was the best gift!! On my second baby and still using it, such a life saver. Also nice naughty snacks such as biscuits, cheese straws ect were amazing, anything I could quickly grab with one hand. I would have also loved some nice thin long sleeve pj’s, button up for easy breastfeeding. Oh and maybe a voucher for a facial and massage would have been a dream 😂
