Jus that really, are your smoke alarms connected to the mains electricity or are they battery operated?

Battery. Many years ago, the deadly fire I was in burned through a mains cable bloody quickly causing a total power loss and if we had been asleep with a hardwired alarm we would all be dead now, not just one person.

Mains connected. I think the electrician told us it was compulsory when we had the house re-wired 19 years ago.

Battery, interlinked (Scotland, so that's a requirement). We also have a non-interlinked single mains alarm which pre-dates the rest; there didn't seem to be any point in removing it when we got the interlinked ones.

Battery, interlinked. From a company called safelincs. Very easy to fit with magnets.

Safelincs is a great company, I have bought from them before and their webpage is really easy to follow with loads of useful, easy to read information. I would also recommend.

3 wired in and linked with battery back ups.

Battery operated smoke alarm inside our flat and then a fully mains powered interlinked smoke detector and smash alarm system throughout the communal areas of our block of flats. Bloody thing could wake the dead (and frequently does when it is tested each week)

Mains with battery back up.

House rewired in 2010 and original ones were far too sensitive and hard to cancel. We had them replaced when we had our kitchen done last year (they should be replaced every 10 years!), and they're much better than original ones.

They don't have to be hard wired in Scotland (although new builds might be different) but they do have to be interlinked which can be wirelessly. Just checked the regulations

"When interlinked became law"....😂

Seem to be quite a few fellow Scots on here, and we're all saying it's the law because it is in Scotland

What’s funny here please?

Small first floor flat, battery alarm in hall. Just paid over £2000 for a fire door so not paying a penny more on alarms.
