Books for 10 year old

I’m struggling to get dd to read books that I really enjoyed when I was 9/10.
initially she was very excited, and purchased some of the titles I’d really enjoyed, including ‘The secret Garden’, ‘Tom’s midnight garden’ ‘The railway Children’. She managed ‘Charlotte’s web’, but said she finds the rest boring. I want her to read in order to improve her writing skills. Maths is her forte, she doesn’t enjoy English much, but I was hoping reading would really help.

I've stopped suggesting titles I enjoyed as I don’t think she’ll enjoy them much.
so, I’m wondering whether I need to venture out, and find alternative books? Maybe ‘modern’ texts?
any help would be appreciated

why not take her to a book shop or library & let her pick a few books that catch her eye? Focus on getting her to read something she likes, it doesn’t matter what it is.

Books by Hannah Gold are good - I really enjoyed the Last Bear.

The girl of ink and stars
Thornhill
Letters from the lighthouse

Great suggestions, thank you all! I think my issue was moving away from the classics!

My DD is almost 11, but she loves Lottie Brooks books by Katie Kirby

My nearly 10 year old likes-
Hannah Gold books
Diary of a wimpy kid series
Jim Smith books (Barry loser, poo diary books)
David Walliams "The worst" books
Lottie brooks books
Tom Gates
Storey Tree house series by Andy Griffiths
Bunny monkey series

Not sure if that gives some ideas

Graphic novels are a great way to encourage reading. Try the Enola Homes graphic novels. She will possibly like mystery novels. We like Fleur Hitchcock as standalone books rather than being one of a series.

Have you asked her teacher what her reading age is? DS is 10 but has a reading age of 12, he enjoys reading big thick novels that wouldn’t even interest me but there are kids in his class that are reading shorter books with bigger print and lots of pictures still. Your DD might be 10 in age but her reading age could be higher or lower.
