Would you revise negative eBay feedback?

I bid and won for something on eBay. There were no other bidders so I got it for the opening bid, which made it a good but not amazing deal - the price it sold for was still within the realms of a reasonable amount to get for it, probably about 60% of the retail price of the item.

The seller just messed around, generated an Evri number but never dropped the parcel off. After a couple of weeks I realised the status was still down as 'we're expecting your parcel' and sent a message asking what was going on. They replied to say Evri had 'confirmed' it had been dropped off (not on the tracking number I had, there was no evidence of this confirmation in the message either) but they would send another one out. They generated a new code and same thing happened, Evri waiting for the parcel to be dropped off.

In the meantime I looked more closely at their feedback - they had about 96% positive. Of the negative comments it seemed similar - never dispatched and a couple of comments said they thought it was because it sold for less than the ebayer was hoping for.

I eventually raised a case and eBay refunded me, the whole thing takes about a month during which time I don't have my money so can't just get the item elsewhere - slightly annoying but whatever.

I left negative feedback which basically said they had failed to send it and gave me the run around, maybe because it sold for less than they hoped, and I could see this failure to dispatch had happened from previous negative feedback from others.

The seller has now raised a request for me to revise my feedback, saying it is preventing them making sales.

What would you do? I'm inclined to feel like this is a 'play stupid games win stupid prizes' situation, and they wouldn't get negative feedback if they just sent the item, but they are protesting that Evri lost the item. Evri never even got the item - I sell things and send via Evri a lot, when it's lost the tracking gets stuck at some point along the process, but they can't lose something they never had - tracking never updated to say they had it at all. Surely the point of feedback is to give a true account of what your experience is with a seller?

Would you revise?

No. Your feedback was honest.

That’s a massive post for a non issue op. Just ignore them

No. The failure to sell is not your problem.

Please don’t change your feedback. It is there so other people can see what a seller is like. It’s pointless if it’s not true.

"they had failed to send it and gave me the run around, maybe because it sold for less than they hoped, and I could see this failure to dispatch had happened from previous negative feedback from others."

Whilst in general negative feedback should be given and not retracted, where it has been earned, at the same time you need to be very accurate in what you say. Everything is more or less ok except you ass-u-me that the reason is "maybe because it sold for less than they hoped".

In my book, 96% is a really low feedback percentage and I would definitely have been cautious with this. The level I generally think of as OK is more like 98%.
