Rosacea success stories

zippyswife · 27/01/2026 20:21

Have had IPL for dry eyes last week and it’s triggered my rosacea which was dormant for the last 20 years.

im bright red hot to the touch and I think the fact that I’m so stressed about this is just increasing it. Every time I think about it it flares up again.

can I have some success stories of how you got rosacea under control please.

I took a course of doxycycline for 16 weeks last year for the ocular rosacea I’m not sure if they’ll let me have that again.

I was not told that this could happen prior to the IPL. I am devastated.

Prescription from Dermatica worked for me. It contains ivermectin and antibiotics.

LuckyCharmz · 27/01/2026 20:45

Soolantra (ivermectin) prescription from gp.

@LuckyCharmz @ZenZazie Does it stop the flushing? I keep going bright red and hot to the touch but don’t have the spots (yet)

@zippyswifeyes, you really couldn’t tell I have rosacea now. I have very slightly rosy cheeks but in quite a nice way.

I used skin + me in a similar formulation before switching to dermatica. I got good results with that too but just prefer the formulation of the base cream from dermatica.

I’ve also used soolantra/ivermectin in a tube from an online pharmacy as it works well too. I just like the convenience of the dermatica prescription- it’s makes my nighttime skincare routine very simple. Cleanse, tone, prescription, whereas with the soolantra I used to feel I needed to use moisturise as well.

I had mild but persistent rosacea for about 5 years. Tried everything.

It maybe entirely coincidental, but since I started NMN over a year ago, I have not had a single flare up or pustule.

i found soolantera from a recommendation on here and IT IS A MIRACLE PRODUCT! sorry for shouting but it is!

I get it from boots doctor and about £70 every six months. Worth it and massively improved my skin.

The creams have never worked.for me. I take Lymecycline. I know it's not considered great to be on it long term, but I'm in my sixties and have been taking it since I was in my twenties. However, I find I only need to take it twice a week to keep the rosacea at bay, and I can even skip it for a couple of weeks every now and then without ill-effect. So to me it's the best possible compromise. If I stop taking it altogether the rosacea flares up after a few weeks.

LuckyCharmz · 29/01/2026 22:47

@zippyswife yes it did for me, I used to get asked if I’d been on a sunbed or got sunburn. It wasn’t instant, gradually got better over 5 months. Now I use it once or twice a week to keep it at bay.

This is the fact sheet www.fedup.com.au/factsheets/factsheets-by-symptom/acne-and-rosacea but the whole website will expand on it for you.

Lymecycline. The creams didn't work for me

What is NMN?

Did it cause any flare up/reaction before it settled and started working. I have been prescribed this but I’m so scared of a reaction after my IPL reaction which has left things worse.

What diet did you follow? The full one or just eliminating dairy?

What diet did you follow? The full one or just eliminating dairy?

Fed up.com.au is an Australian website that follows the Elimination Diet devised by the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital Allergy Unit. It eliminates salicylates, amines, artificial colours, flavours and preservatives. This includes food, body care and cleaning products. A lot of people the go further and eliminate gluten and dairy, too. It looks at prevention of problems.

It is quite difficult to start with and really requires a dietitian to help. They advise living on the elimination diet for six weeks and then introducing one element at a time and noting reactions. On the website is a list of dietitians, some in the UK who are familiar with the diet.

Support can be found on Facebook.

I live a life fairly low in salicylates, artificial colours and flavours. If you have further questions, I’m happy to help.

Thank you @TheSandgroper did this get your rosacea fully under control- and has it remained under control?

I had mild rosacea on my nose for about a year. It was uncomfortable, weeping and I couldn’t wear any makeup on top.
Without thinking much I used DD’s Benzac 10% cream available over the counter for teenage spots. It cleared up and never came back!
Definitely worth a try.

TheSandgroper · 11/02/2026 11:10

@zippyswife I don’t have rosacea but knew that the factsheet was there so I shared it. I have other reactions.
