Everyone I see on Teams or in meetings seems to be going for bigger glasses - usually round.

I just wear cheapy reading glasses see link https://tigerspecs.co.uk/products/dexter-black-reading-glasses - should I be updating to something a bit bigger and rounder!

I like small ones, almost like half moon as I can see distance fine so I peer over the top at the screen.

It depends on your face shape what will suit you. That pic look the same shape as my husbands reading glasses. I have varifocals and mine are very slightly cat eye shaped.

A colleague had huge, round glasses. She specifically bought them to make her face look smaller! I didnt see anything similar when I recently got my varifocals and suspect she bought mens ones.

based on your face size shape and brows. Then skin tone and style.

The size of the frames will also depend on your prescription … my left eye has crazy one (I never really understand what the numbers and + or - mean 😀) but due to having to be thinned I can’t go too wide as the thinning required would start to affect them).

However OP, you are probably better sighted than me!

Whatever suits your face. I like squarer shapes and have this pair as varifocals which does reading and distance

People often get smaller reading glasses so they can look over the top. For varifocals you need something bigger. Big glasses are definitely in.

I have a big face so need big frames!! I’m also terrible with my posture so find that larger frames give me a better view (so sometimes I’ll be staring from odd angles rather than straight on if that makes sense).

I think the smaller frames look really chic, but make my hamster cheeks look ridiculous. I am envious of delicate featured people who can pull them off!

Yikes101 · 27/01/2026 14:33

Would the glasses you see people wearing on teams be reading glasses though? I thought reading glasses tended to be narrow/ half moon shaped as it’s to correct your vision looking a bit downwards towards a book, menu, phone. I wear contact lenses for short sightedness but now I am getting older my reading vision is not as clear. I’ve been at the opticians this morning and was having a discussion about having to choose whether to prioritise seeing the computer screen or reading as they’re at different distances.

Whatever you like.

I have a very strong prescription so smaller frames look better.
Hopefully the Deirdre Barlow look won't come back in fashion as I'd look like nothing on earth.

Whatever shape you want.
