What time does your 6 year old go to bed/to sleep?

I start the bedtime routine with my 6 year old at 7pm. She is really bad at getting to sleep and although she is always in bed by 7.45 at the latest, she is frequently not asleep until 8.30 or even later. She has to wake up at 6.45 and I just worry that she isn’t getting enough sleep. I have tried an earlier bedtime but it doesn’t make any difference. What is everyone else doing? Is this absurdly late for a 6 year old?

Depends on the child I think. I have 2, 6 year olds
During the week they are in bed by 7.15 then we do a story each till 7.30pm. Then they lie down and listen to an audiobook and they are asleep by 8 when I check.
One wakes up between 6 am and 6.30 am every morning the other I wake up at 7am on school day.

At the weekend they are in bed around 8, stories till 8.15 pm and then the audiobook.
One wakes up between 6 am and 6.30 am every morning
The other sleeps till around 8.30 am
So 1 obviously needs more sleep than the other.

Equally when my eldest was 6 she was in bed by 7pm and would often fall asleep before id finished the story.
But then as she turned 7 she seemed to all of a sudden need less sleep and I had to move her bedtime up to 8pm because she would not sleep before that but if I left her by herself to drop off she would scare herself thinking things were hiding in the dark.

Shes 8 now and shes in bed by 8.30pm and allowed 15 mins of reading time before lights out during the week and in bed by 9pmish at the weekend.

Bath time / teeth brushing starts 7.30 by the time we are out the bath can be 8-8.10 then story etc so closer to 8.30 to fall asleep. Then up after 7 most days on weekends they will sleep a little later and it varies between 7-8am

Bedtime starts at 7.30, rarely asleep until 9.30/10, often later...

She sounds like a dream!

Honestly not always. Some days she will be overtired, mess about, complain about every imaginary pain going and demand she stays up.

This is the same child who needed someone to sit with her every evening. It's only the last six months or so she has become independent

No kid is perfect.

My now 16 year old used to stay awake til 10ish at that age and wake up at 6. She killed me off to be honest with you!

My 5.5 year old is in bed around 8.30/9 and asleep by 9/9.30. Wakes up between 7.30/8. As a few other PP's, she's not even home until gone 7 after some of her activities. 7pm bedtime would just be impossible in our house

I dont think my kids need much sleep

I don’t think it’s that late but that’s because my 6yr old is sleeping much later than that. Bedtime is generally about 8.30pm here and she often isn’t sleeping until closer to 9.30-10pm. There the odd occasion i have her asleep by 8-8.30pm and it’s like a miracle lol. She’s awaiting assessment for autism/adhd. I have to wake her about 8am and it’s hard to get her up. She def cld be doing with more sleep I think. We’ve tried earlier but it just means she takes even longer. Her sister is 8 and I think she wld gladly go to sleep about 8-8.30pm. Shes often shouting at her to shut up because she can’t get to sleep for all her carryon. She has many excuses for not sleeping, she needs toilet, a drink, her pjs are too hot, her legs are itchy, she wants a different teddy, she wants to ask me things, talk about her day, tell me a story etc.

At weekend she’ll sleep until I wake her usually around 9am but then bedtime is even later/harder on the Sunday night!

My 6 year old is asleep by 8ish and up at 6, sometimes half 5. He's never tired and would stay up until 11pm if I let him 🙈

Start bath and bed routine at about 7:20. Usually asleep by 8/8:30.

We seem to have got into a habit of letting her stay up until 10 on a Friday and Saturday so that she can spend time with us without her baby sister around. I want to bring this down to 9/9:30 though.

Our 6 year old is usually asleep by around 8:30pm, sometimes later.

She doesn't wake up until 7:30 though.
