In hospital - what can I watch?

In hospital and I cannot believe how loud and inconsiderate the people are around me are. Woman opposite uses a swear word for every 3rd word and her and her partner (he is practically always there) talk at the top of their voices, people make absolutely no effort to be quiet during the night, people watching stuff loud on their phones without any headphones, ringtones going off all the time. A woman was shouting about her hard poo at 5am this morning. I may go mad soon if I havent already. Anyway, now that earplugs need to be in permanently, what can I watch on Netflix or iplayer or disney? I like chick flicks but I also like things like broadchurch. Im in pain and uncomfortable so maybe more easy watching stuff. Thank you

American sweethearts on Netflix follows DC cheerleaders, definitely light watching, there is lots of Agatha Christie as well, I also watched lots of location/location etc and documentaries like Stacey Dooley stays over…all easily watchable. There is lots on iplayer to watch as well!! Hope your out soon or at least get some peace

If you’ve not watched any of the traitors on iPlayer I’d recommend it for very easy entertainment!

Beepbird · 24/01/2026 21:03

Eat, pray, love is currently on Netflix. Fab book and the film is good too.

rainbowsparkle28 · 24/01/2026 21:06

Traitors if not watched as others suggested.
I always find that Gavin and Stacey and Miranda are my comfort watches.
Don’t know if podcasts are your kind of thing might be useful if you want something you don’t have to watch as such but can just chill and listen to?

CactusSwoonedEnding · 24/01/2026 21:07

I love The Good Place on netflix.

If you can afford it - rather than over-ear or in-ear headphones the best way to block out the noise around you is with industrial-strength earplugs and then combine those with bones conducting headphones that don't use your (perfectly blocked) ear canals at all. Shokz are ideal for this.

House (medical drama) on Channel 4, loads of series and lots of shock moments, as long as you’re not squeamish.

DustlandFairytaleBeginning · 24/01/2026 21:11

I was coming to suggest The Good Place as well, its feel good and light but can engross you like a thriller could. Comedy shows like scrubs/ roseanne I find good but I hit a wall after about 4 back to back because the resetting each episode gets a lot.

I'm really enjoying Can You Keep a Secret? on iPlayer with Dawn French and Mark Heap. It's a series so easy to catch up if you fall asleep in the middle of an episode. Get well soon.

Sending healing wishes to you OP. I was in hospital this week too, pleased to be out. Fleabag for excellent, sad but hilarious comedy. Normal People for a fantastic modern love story.

samlovesdilys · 25/01/2026 08:13

Did you watch Ludwig? That would be a good watch too!! Hope you have a better day!

shellyleppard · 25/01/2026 08:17

This is us on all4, multi generation love and life story. But have tissues ready 😔 big bang theory my all time favourites. Hope you feel better soon x

TheFairyCaravan · 25/01/2026 08:18

Have you watched Virgin River? That’s chick flicky.

I hope you feel better soon and it’s not too long before you get back home 💐

Rituelec · 25/01/2026 08:19

Grace and Frankie!

FairislePatterned · 25/01/2026 08:24

If you’re anything like me, OP, I’d say avoid hospital/medical based dramas, I couldn’t watch these at all when in hospital for a week or afterwards.

Like PP, I recommend Grace and Frankie. Other light enjoyable things- Gilmore Girls, Amandaland, Miss Austen.

Snoozeband headphones with eye mask for sleep are really useful for being in hospital, maybe ask someone to bring you one if you’ve got several more nights to go.

Everwood on Netflix . It’s about 20 years old . Good feel good series . 4 series .

UniversityofWarwick · 25/01/2026 10:01

I’ve broken my ankle and am currently stuck on the sofa. A friend suggested Parenthood following a similar request and I’m really enjoying it. Wasn’t sure I would but it’s an easy watch that I’ve been glued to for the last few days.

KungFuDancing · 25/01/2026 10:13

Bridgerton is very easy viewing. A bit escapist which might be helpful! Hope you recover quickly.

Winter876 · 25/01/2026 13:54

The guilded age is good and doesn't require too much concentration. I watched it recently increased hospital. Also don't recommend anything with lovely food as I was watching a masterchef while being served completely inedible hospital grub!
