i usually buy new phones outright, not often, i would say every five years or so, I decided this time around to buy a refurbished iphone from giffgaff. first time buying anything refurbished hence me not knowing if this is normal, a glitch or a fault! says on their website their refurbished phones have a minmum of 80 per cent battery health..

phone arrived two days ago and the first thing i did was check battery health. It said 100 per cent, nothing else, just 100 per cent battery health.

did software update this morning, just checked now and its now changed to saying 'service' next to battery, then when i click on it it says my battery is severly degraded and needs to be serviced, the thing is if i go to battery health it still says 100 per cent! also says apple will replace the battery for £85 when I click on it.

just paid £179 for it and now expected to pay another 85 for a new battery?!

anyone else had anything like this with a refurb iphone? do i send it back??

Absolutely. You are buying the equivalent of a new phone and the battery should have been replaced if necessary in just the same way as a scratched screen would be.

Be careful! I did the same as you but bought through Music Magpie. I had Apple replace the battery and when I went back to MM to recover the costs under the garuntee they told me because I had gone to a third party it had voided the warranty!
