Do you think 2 nights in London is enough ?

Looking for a weekend break for me and partner.
Travelling from near Newcastle.
We haven’t been to London in a year so this is a option.
Do you think 2 nights is enough for London?
Due to work commitments we wouldn’t be arriving till 8pm Friday and leaving 2pm Sunday …
Any fun things to do ?
Last year we went to see wicked and did the usual Buckingham palace etc

Anyone recommend anything to do if we go ?

How exciting!

Two nights is ok if that is all you can manage.

Do you know where you will be staying yet?

ScoobyAndScrappy · 22/01/2026 12:45

There are lots of fun things to do 😊

Some will be free and some will be £££

lt will depend on your budget.

UneasyMe · 22/01/2026 12:45

You can have an amazing time. So many options depending on what you like and where you’re staying. Eg

Saturday: Tate Modern then river boat to Greenwich for a mooch, dinner more central
Sunday: brunch and explore Spitalfields and Columbia Road markets

We did a graffiti walk from Camden market, that was fun and interesting.

sequinpanties · 22/01/2026 12:49

That only gives you one day 🤷‍♀️

I live in London and haven't done it all but 2 nights should be fun especially with the fast train from Newcastle.
What sort of things do you like doing?

This sounds good! Do you happen to remember where you spotted it?

Guidanceplease20 · 22/01/2026 12:55

Depending on the cost I would wait and invest it in a longer break as there is sooooo much to do. I like staying 3 nights minimum.

However, I reglarly pass through and get just one night there. One whole evening and the following morning. And I love that. I pick a last minute show up at about 4pm on my way there for that night, prebook a hotel, and meet a business colleague the following morning at an art gallery! Makes the long trip Im doing so much better.

No, it was a while ago, but I'd have found it online. I also used to love the walks with Walks.com, you learn so much, but at the time they didn't do the graffiti tour.

Notmyreality · 22/01/2026 13:00

Enough for what? You make the most of the time you have obviously.

inkyspells · 22/01/2026 13:01

I think we are going to stay around King’s Cross area and then we can just get the tube around.
Well it will be 1 full day and then till 2pm sunday
I love the buzz of London

There's a canal boat ride from King's Cross to Camden Lock. I think it goes all the way to Little Venice and back. You can book a single journey, or return. It's fun and you see London from a different perspective.

Munchlax · 22/01/2026 13:11

The area round the back of Kings Cross has all been done up - Coal Drops

You're also in walking distance of a lot of great museums depending what you're into. Wellcome Collection, British Museum etc. Sir John Soanes in Lincoln's Inn is small and a bit different and they do candlelight tours sometimes.

Could go up to Highgate Cemetery and do the tour and also a nice area to look around.

Bus route 9 goes past loads of sites if you want a quick tour cheaply
