My neighbour is 100 soon. We exchange Christmas cards, but otherwise, I don't know much about her interests. She has carers and is blind. I'm not sure if flowers would be suitable, maybe something fragrant like a reed diffuser or chocs? Any ideas appreciated up to £15.

I’m now the age where everyone just buys me handcream.

just stop it. I don’t want anymore. I’ve now enough to last me years (or do my hands really look and feel that bad?)

but I’d really love some chocolate truffles 😋

What a kind neighbour! A throw is a good idea as elderly people very often feel draughts/the cold. And they often get food and drink and other things spilled on them so one that’s easily washed will be good. Having a few, so that there’s always a clean one to hand anywhere they regularly sit, means it’s hard to have too many.

Otherwise I agree with the potted spring bulbs and/or sweet treats. DM likes marzipan shapes or Scottish tablet as her treat of choice, dad liked sugared almonds. They were favourites from their childhood. Anything chocolaty melts on their fingers and ends up with brown stains everywhere. Oh, and tastes change as we age so the sweeter the better.

As she finds hyacinths overpowering I would go for scented narcissus & some fudge or chocolates or good lovely choc biscuits - my Dad is 94 and nearly blind - he still has a sweet tooth - to be fair I bought him some licquorice recently and he was made up - helped that I knew he likes it but no one else bothers to get it for him - you could ask carer what they really like
