What was your experience of this? Did the ablation work?

I had exactly the same as you and the ablation did work for me. My periods didn’t stop completely but were much lighter and more manageable afterwards, I’m glad I had it done

Defrostedmariahcarey · 17/01/2026 19:04

Edited to add the laparoscopy is to check for endo.

ablation offered because I can’t have or take any hormonal meds.

ferritin is currently 8 and I feel like death!!

I had it done and it didn’t work for me, I was in awful pain for 8 weeks after, I couldn’t even work. Ended up having a full hysterectomy.

I had it done. Complete success. Changed my life. Best thing I've ever done.

1fluffydoodle · 17/01/2026 19:10

it didn’t work for me, eventually had Total hysterectomy where it was confirmed that I had adenomyosis but no signs of endometriosis

GreenSalon · 17/01/2026 19:12

I had it done and it was almost life changing. Haven’t looked back since getting it done 10 years ago.

VioletladyGrantham · 17/01/2026 19:12

I had it done. No periods ever again which was great! Only problem was that l didn't know when menopause began.

RandomMess · 17/01/2026 19:14

I had it done and it was life changing

Ineffable23 · 17/01/2026 19:16

I had a family member who had it done and it completely cured their extremely debilitating periods, it was an epic success.

Defrostedmariahcarey · 17/01/2026 19:31

Thanks for all your responses so far. My periods are heavy to the point I am unwell now. So I feel like I have no other choice I suppose

Best thing I ever did. My periods also didn’t stop completely but they are barely spotting now. I hadn’t realised how ill my periods had been making me until after the op.

10000% recommend.

FaithLady · 17/01/2026 19:45

I had it done quite a few years ago now and periods stopped completely and it was wonderful.

Dliplop · 22/01/2026 22:34

I just got mine scheduled. 30 years of awful periods and low iron. Really looking forward to it

Sunsetchaser01 · 22/01/2026 22:54

I had mine done after decades of low iron . Worked a treat! They do say it is most successful when your lining is at the thinnest point in your cycle which mine was so I would recommend that timing!

Bushwoolie · 22/01/2026 23:38

I was meant to have one and unfortunately ended up as one of those who suffered complications.
The surgeon perforated through my cervix and uterus and I ended up with them switching to keyhole surgery to repair the damage.

After this I just had a hysterectomy.
