I could do with some reassurance

Can someone pat me on the hand and say "there there, it will be okay" please?

I've got the results of a CT scan of an unknown thing on my rib on Monday afternoon. It's under the breast I had cancer in 7 years ago. The scan was because something was spotted in an Xray I needed because I bashed my shoulder.

Logically I know I'll be okay. But this appointment was sent to me 3 hours after my scan. Because I've had cancer I'm bricking it.

DH and a friend who's a nurse are being lovely. We have a 12yo though, so I can't talk to DH about it as much as I might want.

Can I have some gentle pats of reassurance please?

Lots of gentle caring pats, and a supportive hug 💜. I know it’s not easy, but please try and keep positive. Thinking of you.

Hand hold.
I'm on cancer treatment and doing well but I don't think I'll ever feel 'free' of cancer. I now know I'm not invincible!

I should think the return to hospital, scans, bloods etc. is triggering.

Big hugs, gentle pats.

Thank you.

Like I said, I know it will be okay really but the highly logical, common sense part of me has been beaten down by the "argh, fuck" side.

It's true that cancer never leaves you. The nurse commenting on the bruise on my arm from last week's blood test when she did one on Wednesday triggered me.

Another one waiting results, DH’s in this case.

I can only recommend trying to ignore it with distractions until you know.

It’s very hard so lots of empathy.

Cats are good for reassurance too. Mine is currently sitting on me. We've only had her for 3 months. She's an absolute sweetheart.
