To cruise or not to cruise

I’m currently in bed with a never ending flu/cold while my husband is skiing in Switzerland… Anyway! We’ve been thinking of going on a cruise but we’re unsure for different reasons (my husband thinks it might make him feel a bit claustrophobic) whereas I don’t like tributes bands nor musicals…. So we think we might end up getting bored or with cabin fever.

We also have a 6yo, so it has to be kid friendly.

So given that’s the case, do you think we’d enjoy it? And any you would recommend?
Ty!

If you pick a cruise with lots of ports of call you won’t get cabin fever. Also most boats are huge with LOTS of opportunity for fresh clean sea air so that’s lovely.

every cruise I’ve been on has had different types of live music - not seen any tribute acts. The shows do tend to be musical or pop music based but they’re not obligatory.

disney cruises are amazing for kids but thr entertainment is of course very Disney based.

I'm going on a 5 night cruise in June. There are 3 free excursions, one of which I would very much like to go on but I'm not very mobile so DH will probably go while I stay aboard.

We will treat it as a nice hotel stay, with some lovely changing views and entertainment if we want it, and lots of choice in restaurants. We probably won't take advantage of the entertainment anyway, but there will be some talks which might be interesting and there is a library which will suit me very well.

I think it all depends on what you want out of your holiday. We're happy with comfortable beds, nice views and good food - with opportunities for DH to go off and do his own thing when we're in port. If you need/want to be entertained then pick a cruise that has the kind of entertainment you like. I don't know what your budget is, obviously, but there are cruises where they have water-based activities when you stop, the bigger ships have more on-board activities, there are cruises which have specific types of entertainment - all sorts.
