You are still in your 20s OP!

How on earth are you going to cope with being 30, or 40 , or God forbid, even older, if you are looking for lines on your face
when you are still a really young woman.

Why on earth are you having botox?

I mean I had a lot of weight loss in my teens (anorexia) nd then had acne so basically hammered benzyol peroxide

I didnt think of mt later skin! Im trying to prevent further lines and movement as I feel like there's lots of lines

Heard about microneedling unsure how that works? If it does

RETIN-A - start NOW. Your older self will thank you. This is all you need for anti-aging on the face.

Stay out of the sun, drink lots of water.

Definitely don't use botox or fillers as long term you'll look worse. Definitely don't start in your 20s.

Make sure you eat healthily and get good sleep. Ideally. Plus exercise.

Be really careful what skincare you use. I really want to advocate for a good facial factor 50 SPF but there's evidence the chemicals stay in your body. Same for things like the retinol and collagen, not sure I'd trust the long term cancer risks of these things.

Really you need good genes. I'm 47 and don't look it. I have never used much skincare. I use simple cleanser and a bit of olay moisturiser. Don't buy anti aging anything.

Sallllllyyyyy3 · 17/01/2026 09:35

Definitely need to up my water. Sleep wise is tough as I have a 4yo and 1yo haha! Ive had a handful of goodnight sleeps over 4 years

Okay thank you for advice. Genes wise my mum is fantastic gets mistaken for her late 30s early 40s and shes 60 next year but I just feel those good genes missed me ? Lol xx

Sun screen factor 50 daily. Hat and shades in summer. You can use mineral sunscreen if chemicals are an issue. Ultrasun do once a day products on QVC often have offers. Water (think grape not prune) and lots of fresh fruit and veg.

I saw a twin case example where two identical twins lived different lifestyles eg amount of sun exposure. One looked heaps younger than the other so not all genetics.

Ohwhatfuckeryitistoride · 17/01/2026 09:44

Don't fall for all the tosh they throw at you to buy snake oil. Cleanse, moisturise and protect. That's it.

SErunner · 17/01/2026 09:46

SPF moisturiser every day. Wear hats in summer, avoid having your face in the sun. Water+++ and work out a good routine that includes a cleanser, toner, moisturiser and a retinol serum. I personally like a facial oil as well. Avoid Botox and fillers, as pp said, it will make things worse longer term.

Ginmonkeyagain · 17/01/2026 09:49

You need to start from within. Plenty of sleep, good diet, no smoking, drink enough water, exercise.

Other than that suncreen, good moisturiser and an acceptance than ageing isn't a bad thing.

I'm 47 and think I have pretty decent skin. I have, since I was in my late 20s , had a daily routine with Boots Protect and Perfect eye cream, serum and face cream (day and night versions). I wear suncreen and don't sunbathe. I rarely wear much make up. I have some wrinkles because I am a middle aged human who moves my face and I am ok with that.

Iloveeverycat · 17/01/2026 09:50

Sorry but I am horrified that a 27 year old would consider having botox.

RosesAndHellebores · 17/01/2026 09:50

Everything @ZenNudist said. And I'd throw in smile and channel inner happiness. Misery ages more than anything else.

Weareoutofwine · 17/01/2026 09:56

Genetics and lifestyle I think, as others have said.

My mother has amazing skin. Which is a surprise as she smoked for 20 years and is a sun worshipper.

But she has always had a simple healthy diet, has always worn sun screen, she has used retinol/a and various No 7 protect since her mid 40s I'd guess. She has a regimented skin routine. That she tweaks each year. I think this has helped. BUT I also look at grainy photos of my granny and can see she had great skin until hers 60s - and she had a hard life, likely poor diet due to rationing and wouldn't have known sun cream if it smacked her in the face!

I think hydrate, find a good skin care routine, protect your skin from the sun. Eat well and try to enjoy life. Ageing is inevitable - there is no harm in doing what you can to minimise the appearance, but don't kid yourself and don't obsess as no one can out run it's effects. Strike a balance between self care and Grooming and accepting that age is inevitable and holds its own different beauty.

I’m in my 40s with minimal lines, my colleagues were shocked when I said my age, they thought I was 10 years younger, or just being nice lol
I stay out the sun, don’t smoke or drink, plenty of sleep, I wear day/night cream every day with serum, cleanse twice a day. Face oil if it’s feeling dry, exfoliate a couple of times a week. It’s stopping the dryness which help prevent lines, also expression lines, be conscious to stop habits of raising the eyebrows and frowing that cause static lines also when you do get older, less eye makeup looks more youthful.

Weareoutofwine · 17/01/2026 10:05

Also looking at the age of your children and sleep deprivation - you are in the eye of the storm. I look at photos taken 5 years ago when I had two young children and an average of three hours sleep a night and poor self care - I looked older than I do now.

Now I sleep OK, drink gallons of water and try to take a leaf out of my mums book and care for my skin. Don't underestimate the temporary effects of sleep deprivation and young children. I bet you are youthful and beautiful!

Inthefuturenow · 17/01/2026 10:48

27! Botox! Jeez. I'm in my 50's and I use 2 products. A cleansing balm and super drug vit e moisturizer and I don't use that every day.. I'm regularly told I look late 30's/early 40's. I think it's just genetics as I rarely wear sunscreen. I also have an oily skin type which was awful when I was younger but has it's benefits now I'm older!
Agree with others though, it's more about what you put in your body than what you put on your skin.

Sallllllyyyyy3 · 17/01/2026 11:41

What does everyone mean about botox early xx
