No period pains

Grantvin · 14/01/2026 21:11

I was just reading a thread where people said they hadn't had period pains. I have questions.

Do people mean literally no pain? How (apart from those lucky regular people) do you know you have it?

If you get no cramps, do you still get the other physical symptoms?

Yeah, blood coming out of your vagina.

TheMoteThatsInYourEye · 14/01/2026 21:14

Odd question

APatternGrammar · 14/01/2026 21:15

I never have pain before it starts, so it doesn’t help with the prediction (I’m assuming that’s what you meant by knowing you’ve got your period, because there is an obvious clue once it arrives). I wouldn’t have thought of pain before being the ‘usual’ thing but perhaps I’m wrong.

Well obviously, but I meant when it starts. For me I get a warning of (hideous) pain!

Yes that's what I meant. The actual blood is almost never the first indicator, I get bad cramps which build for quite a while before anything else.

So really sore boobs, different toilet habits, painful legs. I also feel extremely tired.

I've used a period tracker for years so know when my period is expected. I might be sightly short tempered and less tolerant a few days before my period, but nothing very noticeable.

Occasionally, in my 20's I might have taken 2 nurofen on the day my period started for mild cramps, but not every month and not horrendous. Since then, nothing. I feel lucky, but have always assumed those with terrible pains have endo, PCOS or other gynae issues.

I get none of these symptoms at all!

I read a completely barmy article by a trans identified male who complained that women were mean for saying he didn't have periods when he had mood swings and cramps and everything but didn't have the bleeding and it was really unfair

BearSoFair · 14/01/2026 21:23

I've never had cramps like a lot of friends experience, mild discomfort at worst but these days (peri) no pain at all and the only 'warning' I get that I'll come on soon is that my watch records my resting heart rate steadily increasing for a week or so before the bleeding starts.

Weirdly during my period is when my IBS is usually most settled, which seems to be the complete opposite to a lot of people!

Grantvin · 14/01/2026 21:23

This is interesting. My bad symptoms only last the first 2-3 days, so I'm guessing maybe others have the experience of day 3-7 but for the whole period.

I don't get cramps until I'm actually on. For the week before I get severe rage and insomnia which is a fun week for everyone round me😅

I am symptom free until day 2. I do get an intuition it’s coming, but not based on anything concrete.

Before I had a baby, my periods were hellish; I would get pain so bad it would make me vomit, I would faint, have pains in my thighs, wouldn't be able to stand up straight, would be clammy and sweating.

Since the baby, nothing. Sore boobs a week before but absolutely nothing else. It's been like a miracle.

Isn’t that endometriosis, if giving birth instantly fixed it?

mindutopia · 14/01/2026 21:30

No cramps, no other symptoms. Just literally my period.

But I’ve always been very regular, so I know when it’s coming down to about a 24 hour period. Cycles used to be 28 days exactly. They did go through a weird slightly unpredictable phase at the start of perimenopause. But now I get them, like clockwork, every 81 days, which is random but still thoroughly predictable. And then I’m just sensible and prepared when I know the day is approaching. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Periods have never been a big deal so I just get on with it.

I don't know! I was told by multiple doctors that I was either just unlucky or, by one, to stop being dramatic.

CaffeineAndChords · 14/01/2026 21:31

It would be utter bliss to have a period with no pain- however it is good in the respect it makes me aware period is imminent! I do use Flo, but it isn’t always 100%. I know those niggles mean any moment it’s going to happen.

I can see why they wouldn't be a big deal for you, you are lucky for sure

Absolutely! The pains are completely different to any others I have/have had.
