DS14 got a super machine for Christmas. He’s a keen beginner cook but is keen to be completely independent in using it. We have already been served a delicious butternut and sweet potato soup but looking for any quick, easy and failsafe revipes he can put together for weekend lunches. He is dyspraxic and is keen to practice his chopping skills and we are hoping it will be good preparation for food tech GCSE. Thank you 🙂

I love home made soup - I made a great BBC Good Food leek and potato soup yesterday it’s absolutely delicious. I didn’t add any cream only milk and it’s so tasty. Just potatoes, leek and onion needs chopping so a good introduction for him. Hope he enjoys his new present.

Google Nanas Magic Soup it’s my current favourite

Amazing. Leek and potato is DD’s favourite. And I think I could do with a bit of magic soup (no mushrooms, I hope!)

One top tip I loved is to add a small potato to nearly any recipe, and it adds a kind of creaminess to it... It definitely works!

Was just going to suggest the leek and potato good food. I also swap cream for milk.
A simple carrot and coriander soup
1 onion, 1.5tsp ground coriander, 450g carrots, 1.2l chicken (or veg) stock, 1tsp mixed dried herbs and 1 potato.

These both make about 5 portions (mines a large soup maker).

Most days I throw in frozen mixed veg, a small potato, water and a veg stock cube and blend until smooth.

I got myself a soup maker recently and it is changed my life (a bit!!). I bought with it a book called Soup Maker Recipe Book by Sophia Hobbs on Amazon. £10 odd well spent.
