Cab British Gas stop calling me?

I changed energy suppliers yesterday using their switching service.

The moment I put the phone down after setting everything up, they obviously contacted BG on my behalf to request the cancellation.

Cue three emails within minutes of each other, then three texts an hour apart, two phone calls yesterday and three today and a further text.

There is nothing you can do to ‘convince me to stay’ as your subject line suggests. I’ve clearly already signed a new contract so leave me alone?

My iPhone has a phone screening option where if it’s an unknown number, an automated voice asks for the name and reason for their call and they hang up the moment they hear it. Meaning I don’t even have the opportunity to pick up the phone before they hang up. The constant missed calls / notifications are driving me crazy now.

I don’t really want to dial the number and go through their automated system to get through to someone to tell them to leave me alone. Has anyone had this - do they eventually give up? Is there an email I can use to say stop contacting me?

Reply to their emails by adding "CEASE AND DESIST NOTICE" in the subject line.

Be frank and tell them that, as they seem not to have understood what should have been a clear situation of a previous customer's active choice to leave them, this is to confirm unambiguously that you hereby withdraw any perceived right to contact you by any methods except for the purposes of confirming any outstanding amount due from/to you in final settlement of your now-closed account.

Any attempts on their part to continue contacting you for any other purpose will be considered as harassment and reported to the authorities, the ombudsman and/or the media, however you deem appropriate. You also reserve the right to seek legal advice as to what action you can take against them for compensation, should they persist in their harassment of you.

Edited to add: their emails will probably come from a 'noreply' address. You should be able to find the email address of their CEO online, and send your replies to that address.

Can't you block them on phone and email them?

They don’t always call from the same number. When I google the number it shows as them.

I can probably do a generic webform from their website but how likely are they to actually act on it…

@Politicians247UnderwearExtinguishingServicethat sounds rather OTT despite how annoying they’re being!

Maybe look into Ferguson v British Gas Trading Ltd (Court of Appeal, 2009)
