Thorpe Park Fast Track

Bit of a random question but I can’t seem to find the answer online anywhere.
DS2 is going to Thorpe Park in the summer with his school. He absolutely loves theme parks and fast rollercoasters…me not so much so we haven’t been as much as he would like! I want to know if I can purchase a couple of fast passes for him and a friend to use on the day just to try and get the bigger rides done? He will obviously have tickets booked as a group booking so is it still possible to get standalone fast passes without them being linked to an actual ticket as obviously I don’t have access to his ticket. I know you can purchase individual ride ones on the day but I want to do this for them in advance as a surprise.

No way would I do that! Not if he’s on a school trip. What a way to make him stand out from all the other kids! It would cause resentment. Jealousy turns quickly to bullying “precious Jonny doesn’t want to queue so his mummy paid for special treatment”. Just no.

Unless he has SEN (mine do) and can’t queue then queuing is part of the experience with his school friends and he may well enjoy it. Save your money and take him and a friend to a theme park another time.

Yes, you can. You can buy them online in advance or at the park. You may only be able to buy them online with a ticket, but you can definitely get them there, both at a kiosk to the left of the main entrance and at another kiosk somewhere in the park.

I can see what the pp is saying, but assuming they're going to split into groups then it won't be a problem!

Wow! It’s absolutely nothing to do with queuing, he is more than capable of queuing with everyone else. However when the year group went last year, my friends son went on 1 ride all day as they are only there for a limited amount of time. So I’m paying £75 for the ticket and the coach for him to go on 1 ride and then I have to take him another day to spend more money when I won’t even go on the rides? Where is the sense in that?
We don’t really go to theme parks, we did Universal when he was younger but he doesn’t get to in this country as we are no where near any of the theme parks and I’m not a massive fan tbh. So I was trying to do something nice for him and a couple of his mates so they could actually get on some of the bigger rides. They will go around in small groups and he has 2 really close friends so I was going to get 3 of the Rollercoaster passes which are £35 each.

They will have plenty of time to be with everyone else, not that an entire year group are going to stick together anyway.

Not entirely sure why my very simple question, made you so angry tbh?

Thank you! It was the buying them online beforehand I wasn’t sure about. I will give them a call and ask the question.

I think I’m a fairly intelligent, level headed person and honestly don’t think it is such a ridiculous idea. It’s certainly not about showing off and giving him preferential treatment, more that this is probably going to be his 1 chance to go so I’d rather he made good use out of the day.

No that’s selfish as f when your son will be attending with a group of other kids! That’s like arriving at another kids’ birthday party with happy meals for just your own kids

You need to speak to the school as they're likely to split them into small groups each with an adult, so he might not be with his friends in any case

They are 14/15 years old, do you seriously think a teacher is going to be in a group with them all day at a theme park? There are 250 kids going from his school. They get off the bus and are told what time to be back and that’s it.

They go every year in Year 10 so it’s been the same every year. My older son didn’t get to go as he was in Year 10 during Covid. They will just go round with whoever they want. So there will likely be my DS and his 2 mates.

As I’ve just said on the other post, they are 14/15 years old. They will just be going round the theme park with their mates on their own, apart from the small group of boys they will be with no one else will know and tbh it’s none of their business anyway.
Why is it selfish? I’m not taking something away from someone else, I’m giving my DS and his mates a more enjoyable day.
It’s like saying people can’t go on holiday because some people won’t ever get the chance to do it? It’s a £35 fast pass for 5 rides, not an all inclusive holiday at a 5* resort.
