Want to rent a piece of gym equipment for cardio workouts - what to get??

I am 40 with 4 young kids under 9 and a husband with a very busy work life who travels a lot. I work part time and every moment I’m not with my kids, I’m trying to get my work hours done or doing housework. Used to run lots in my 20s and have generally stayed active always but recently I’ve put on a bit of weight and now my only exercise is a 10 min YouTube video at 9pm when I can be bothered. New Year’s resolution … lose the 6kg I’ve put on in the last 5 years and get fitter! Thinking of renting a cardio machine as a trial as realistically I can’t get to a gym or leave the house for a run all that regularly. Shall I get a cross trainer, treadmill or row machine? Any tips on quick HIIT videos I could be doing? Tempted by a treadmill but worried about my knees now 😬

If you’re worried about your knees, I’d get an indoor bike. Cross trainer won’t burn that many calories but I can get a really good workout on an indoor bike. I use the RPM classes on the Les Mills app (they also have a lot of other great classes that could be good to complement indoor cycling - I like the Pilates and Shapes classes, which need very little equipment and help me stay toned).

I also recommend an indoor bike. I started with a JTX one and using the Les Mills and Peloton apps. Fast forward and I invested in a Peloton bike. Love the bike and the classes.
