Any experience of the steps SS will take here please?

Dd made a disclosure to me, it could be something that was overstepping her boundaries, or it could be something more sinister.

I reported it to school and to SS.

SS have said they will liase with the school to see what the best way to speak to dd will be and go from there.

What happens after this?

Will they interview the person involved? Will they offer support for dd? What's the process please? I've never had any experience of this and they were vague on the details. DD is ND so if its anything more than a trusted person at school having a chat with her I'll need to prepare her.

Well it will hugely depend on what the disclosure was, if it was reported to school I assume it was either something done by another child or a teacher?
It’s impossible to tell you who will speak to her without knowing the level of concern, is it likely to be a police matter? If so it could be a social worker and police officer, if it’s something like bullying then school may deal with it themselves via the trusted teacher.

You’ll find it hard to get the answer you are looking for without more detail, if you are not comfortable sharing (understandable) then you’ll just have to wait to see how it plays out/ask ChatGPT.

Hope all goes okay & your DD gets the support she needs.

It's about a relative that she no longer sees.

I didn't know who to speak to so asked at school for advice as dd is showing some concerning behaviour as well. School said SS immediatly.

She said he kissed her and it hurt and she didn't like it, I asked if there was anything else she wanted to tell me and she clammed up.

Dd doesn't like kisses or much physical affection at all, and that's 100% respected in my home, so it would understandably upset her if someone made her.

They will want to speak to her. Probably in a few days. If the child is not in contact with the person, then there is no current risk. It will not be rushed.

But if the person she has made the allegation against has contact with children- i.e works with them or is a parent then this will need to be explored. It depends on the risks, really. But they will speak to her.

Good luck.

There is no risk to dd currently, it's a new disclosure but she hasn't seen him for months.

The relative works with vulnerable adults (in a caring capacity) so I'm not sure what happens with that either. I never actually thought about what happens with that side of things, and never told SS that he works with vulnerable people.

Should I be telling SS this on Monday?

Ok, then the LADO (local authority designated officer) will need to be informed. Yes, please tell the school, and they will pass this on to the Local Authority.

You must be so relieved your daughter shared this with you. I hope it gets sorted and she receives some support. And for you, especially if this is a relative.

LADOs only deal individuals who work with children, you can't report someone who works with vulnerable adults to them.

Yes, you're right! Sorry, it's the adult safeguarding. They will investigate. Good luck.

the relative doesn’t work with children so no role for the LADO

I really am relieved she told me, although she hasnt said much and Im not pushing it for now until school/SS speak to her. I want her to be comfortable and in the best place to talk so I don't want to pressure her or put words in her mouth. Even if the most innocent explanation is that he wanted a goodbye kiss and he made her he's a fucking disgusting creep.

Its not a relative on my side of the family but there have been a few things happen which means dd no longer sees that side of her family currently.

There was a ramp up of behaviours from her which coincided with the school telling me they think she's ND and the process of that starting, and she's around the age my other dd was when she was diagnosed and her symptoms started showing more, so I've stupidly put it all down to that, when it could be about this and I've totally missed it.

I'll call SS first thing Monday to let them know his job, I can't believe I didn't even think of that.
