Has anyone switched to Sky Stream from Sky Q recently?

It’s something we’ve looked at a few times, but we’re put off by poor reviews suggesting the Sky Steam technology wasn’t up to much. However the cost difference is so much now that it’s impossible to ignore and DH wants to make the switch.

I’d love to hear any reviews or opinions from others who have made the switch.

I has SkyQ for years but it got so expensive and I moved so I thought at the time it would be an opportunity to end my contract. However, I recently came across Sky Stream. I live in rented accommodation and would have had to get permission for a satalite and arrange access to the electrics with my landlord for 'traditional' Sky TV. With Sky Stream it runs of a 'puck.' No satalite or electric access needed. It runs off the broadband. Just plug in for power and connect a HDMI cable from the puck to the tv. It was really easy to set up on screen too. I phoned up Sky inquiring about Sky Stream on the Monday evening and signed up, and the puck arrived Tuesday morning! The signal is good. (I had an indoor aerial and whilst good in summer, winter weather played havock with the reception!), there are a lot of channels. Check out the packages before you buy. I only saw the basic package (£15.99) a month so signed up for that one. It's really good but the only downside is you can't forward wind the ads when you record a programme, you have to view them. I believe there are other packages, more pricey but you don't have to sit through the ads.
