Mattresses: does anyone have a Which? Magazine subscription?

I had Which? for years and years, and eventually stopped subscribing about three years ago when their price went up so much I couldn't justify it anymore.

We bought a Simba mattress about 6 months ago, to help with joint pain, but it's started to hump within that time. There doesn't seem to be much point in asking for a replacement as I expect the same will happen. Luckily their warranty should cover a return.

I'd really like to see some independent, non-paid-for reviews for a mattress. Looking for a motion-isolated (e.g. not bouncy when one of us turns over) ideal for side/front sleepers. The maximum budget is about £1000. If anyone has a Which? subscription or a personal recommendation, I'd love to hear it.

From Which?, their top mattress with 80%.

Emma’s Helix Hybrid double mattress is durable, sailing through our tough tests designed to replicate 8-10 years of use. And decent body support gives your back the rest it deserves, no matter what position you prefer to sleep in. While it scored well in our lab tests overall, we are not currently recommending any Emma mattresses as Best Buys, as the brand is being taken to court by the regulator due to its online sales practices

depending on bedsize go for separate matresses.
def possible for king/superking.

we have that plus a topper (so no gap) and I can't feel oh moving at all.
ikea is good for matresses.

Emma again 79%
The Hybrid Thermosync mattress, formerly known as the Emma NextGen Cooling mattress, joins the pack of top-scoring Emma mattresses thanks to its decent back support and excellent durability, combined with layers that are breathable and good at absorbing movement.

EZE Hybrid Ultra 79%
It’s not often we find bold claims that actually stand up in our tests, but the EZE hybrid ultra is supportive, durable and breathable, which means you’re onto a winner for a decent night’s sleep with this mattress. It’s one of our highest scoring Best Buy pocket sprung mattresses.

Thank you so much. Interesting that they're not recommending Emma owing to shady online sales practices though!

I though it was hilarious that they gave Emma the top slot, said how great it was and then said they wouldn't recommend it !

That happens fairly regularly. They judge items very objectively on how well they perform, and that's how their percentages and 'league tables' work.

The fact that there is a background issue that isn't to do with how the mattress performs, is always mentioned separately, and affects whether the item gets a 'best buy' recommendation.

I've seen the top rated item not get a best buy recommendation pretty regularly.
It's then down to the consumer to decide whether the background issue is something that they are bothered about, or whether they want to risk it in order to have the mattress that meets their particular need.

Hmm - they don't seem to sell the Helix Hybrid anymore. Do we think that's the same thing as the Airgrid under a different name? Was the Helix Hybrid the most expensive model they did?

Whoah! I can see why Which? reported Emma to the ombudsman. I've just gone onto the Emma site to have another look at the Airgrid mattress, and they've removed / renamed all of their mattresses (again) so it's impossible to compare like-for-like. Shady!

I would say we have religiously followed the turning instructions and now, 18 months on, it is still the comfiest we have ever had.
