Not received food order can I get a refund

I use a subscription food delivery service and i was due to receive it on Tuesday. The post has been but they didn't have it just what I'd ordered from m&s and now i won't get the food until Monday because of the snow and backlogs. I have been charged and have no doubt I'll have a load of moldy food to dispose of.

Nobody here can answer this. You will have to contact the company.

SmaugTheMagnificent · 09/01/2026 11:41

When you contacted them to explain the problem, did they refuse to replace/refund? What exactly did they say?

TwattyMcFuckFace · 09/01/2026 11:42

You need to read whatever emails they've sent.

If for some reason they haven't, just contact them and ask.

YourSnugHazelTraybake · 09/01/2026 11:43

If it's something like hello fresh / Gousto they'll send it out fresh, it gets destroyed if not delivered on the correct day, or at least it does where I work.

Vound · 09/01/2026 11:47

I'm so tempted to ask what the company said when you contacted them.

Talk to the supplier. If their agent (the delivery service) has not delivered food you can eat then you will be due a refund/replacement direct from the supplier.

It may well be the delivery service's fault but that is the supplier's problem, not yours. You are due your money back from the supplier.

How long ago did you send it?

See what they say or try phoning/ webchat if you don't hear after a couple of working days.

Don't stress about it, they will expect to refund or replace if they are shipping perishables. The fact the money's gone is just normal process. Are you sure there is nothing about this on their T&C's or FAQs?

Iceshine · 09/01/2026 12:15

Don't email get on the phone to them.

SunnyGreenBird · 09/01/2026 12:18

It's not a big name brand it's a small company locally and without naming them I've just checked their terms and conditions and it says they don't guarantee deliveries within the time frame and they're not liable

Ah maybe lesson learned, i would still phone them though they might refund as a goodwill gesture.

Vound · 09/01/2026 13:48

That can't be right surely. They might not guarantee in time for a particular event, fair enough, but food that is delivered after its use by date is not fit for purpose and you must be entitled to your money back - from them, not the delivery service. Being a small company doesn't exempt them from distance selling regs.

See what they say first though.
