How do you stay positive and grateful in life?

I have alot to be grateful for- a loving husband; my 2 young kids; my health; our stability personally and financially; our families around us and much more.

I feel I find it hard sometimes to be grateful and I end up getting wound up at any minor inconvenience or stressed about things (I’m super type A)

Just wanted to ask really how you stay positive and optimistic through life, and handle any hurdles

I am good at putting things into perspective. I have a recurrent health condition which can be annoying, but it is nowhere near as bad as what some people suffer with. This type of thinking works really well for me. DH’s car broke down recently which was annoying, but I was just so grateful it didn’t happen on the motorway (we had our two young DDs with us). I appreciate this type of thinking doesn’t work for everyone, but it definitely helps me!

I think it requires a bit of a pause wherever you can find it, and then a deliberate focus on what you’re grateful for. When I’m rushing around I do the same and forget. And then (over holidays, at weekends, late at night) if you can take a moment to zone in and write a list or really feel the good stuff, it can fuel you for the next stressful week (or hour haha).

Volunteer. I volunteer at a food bank. I volunteer at a homeless shelter. When you meet people who have nothing and smile and laugh you realise, with grace, you are blessed with what you have.

I think it’s so important to try to do this, to be appreciative of something in your life every day throughout good and bad days can really help your mindset

Before I go to sleep, I think of 3 things I'm grateful for. Sounds a bit cheesy but I go to bed content. The 3 things can be simple things like 'grateful for a hot shower this morning' or 'grateful for my cup of tea'. It just helps put things into perspective and reminds me what I've have got.

I say to myself does whatever it is really matter, is it important, is it worth thinking about and ruining the day? The answer is always no.

I’m the same as @ItalianChineseIndianMexican
I consciously count 5 things I’m grateful for before I go to bed. It’s worked well for me after realising that I was over reacting to small things and getting really distressed. I also spent a couple of weeks at the hospital at the end of last year and that was so heartbreaking that it made me especially grateful for the little things like sleeping in my own bed and not being dependent on others to keep me alive .

I don’t know what type A means, sorry!
I have a little book in my bedside table and every night I write down 3 positive things I’m grateful for or that happened that day. Really helps focus my mind before bed on the good rather than dwelling on the bad.
I also do a lot of cold water swimming and find it incredible for my brain and mental health in general.
I too have on paper a really great life but can be prone to bouts of feeling quite low however since starting those things a couple of years ago I’ve definitely felt more optimistic/upbeat about things.
