Wrinkles...do you care about comments

I'm late 50s and a size 10/12.Slim but not skinny.Ive aged facially from 55.
I'm focused on health so exercise yet people comment on my weight and wrinkles.
I would never mention it and while I would prefer to not have them I feel some people are so shallow to think that is the be all and end all and something to deal with.
My DM never really had any as she was a dress size 24 and dealt with many I'll health issues due to her size.
Do you care about wrinkles at almost 60.?

Just tell them to fuck off.

Nubbled · 06/01/2026 23:23

I’m 59 and look it. Couldn’t give a fuck. I’ve had a great life and my face shows it.

'people comment on my weight and wrinkles'

Maybe you are with the wrong people.

I am 58 and in the last 3 years have started counting calories and running as I wanted to be healthier. I have lost 4 stone altogether and am now just inside my ideal weight for my height. I am pleased with my achievement but have noticed that my face has a lot more wrinkles now and when I met an old school friend I hadn’t seen for years, felt very upset when she said to me ‘you look old’ I was too shocked to think of a reply.

How incredibly rude your colleagues are!

I also find that people feel quite justified in commenting negatively on someone’s weight, if they are on the slimmer side.
When I lost weight years ago, an older lady told me I looked better heavier. I was obese and it was definitely bad for my health- but in her view, I probably looked nice and curvy! It probably also made her feel better about her own size.

I find it strange that people would prioritise being overweight to minimise wrinkles or have curves- especially if the excess weight is damaging to their health.

You are being bullied!
Tell this person/these people to stop making personal remarks about your appearance.

If they don't stop, tell your manager.

I am 48 and I look it with lines on my face I am quite slim due to running/cycling
I am very aware that lots of people at work seem to have had botox/fillers as they arent aging like me I remember being young and pretty but that was 30 years ago! I like to think that I am quite counter cultural in my life choices by not running with the herd! Also who knows the long term effects of injecting stuff into your face! Also not how I choose to spend our disposable income I am more concerned about the financial security of my families future than having a face that looks younger than it is.

OnlyHasEyesForLoki · 07/01/2026 13:19

How rude of them to comment! I’ve had similar comments about my weight since I lost a lot, eg “don’t you think you’re going a bit far?” and “your face is too thin!” CFs!

I am 58 and currently a BMI of 24 (so hardly tiny!) after losing 2 stone 10 pounds and do 7 gym classes a week.

I have noticed a loss of volume in my face especially since I upped the exercise. I’ve always had Botox in my forehead and have good skin generally but the loss of volume has made me look a bit gaunt, it’s true. I might consider fat transfer in the future but meanwhile I’ve had some filler done very cautiously by a registered nurse prescriber and it has made me feel that I look a bit more healthy and nourished, but I think each to their own! It’s a personal choice!

Thank you snowing
today.💜
I think perhaps they would like a slim body.My exercise regime is to prevent cancers and heart conditions that have plagued my family.
I wouldn't be focused on my older face.

Same. I'm 56 and don't love my wrinkles. Its weird seeing myself more wrinkly and older looking than my mum ever was. Because she died of an obesity related illness before she got the chance to look older.

whatisforteamum · 09/01/2026 20:03

5128gap sorry to hear that.

@whatisforteamum , I care but try not to. Nobody has commented but someone offering me their seat or to help me with my shopping makes me think maybe I Iook much older.
Someone described me as sprightly - we're both in our 50s.
