Am I being unreasonable to enjoy my own company

I am perfectly happy seeing friends and family, but I also genuinely enjoy being on my own – reading, pottering about, or just sitting with my own thoughts. I do like people and I’m not avoiding anyone, I just really value that quiet time.
Sometimes though I worry it comes across as a bit antisocial, especially when everyone else seems to want plans all the time. I’m never bored when I’m on my own, if anything I feel more myself. Just wondering if anyone else feels the same or if I’m overthinking it.

No, I'm the same. Single for almost 13 years now and mostly go on holiday on my own. I can't imagine ever sharing a sofa or bed again.

I can really relate to that. I think once you’ve had a long stretch of doing things your own way, it’s hard to imagine giving up that space again. There’s something very peaceful about not having to compromise all the time.
Holidays on your own actually sound lovely to me – you do what you want, when you want, no negotiating over plans or meals.

Same. Single for many years and I like to fill any of “my” time with sleep and projects in the house. Living with a man again would be absolutely out of the question. I’m social with the staff members in my local supermarket across the road that I’ve gotten to know over the years exchanging pleasantries. That’s about as much interaction as I can deal with. They remember 14 year old DD from being newborn so that’s nice. I do enjoy being on my own especially in the evenings now that DD wants to do her own thing in her room. Surely there’s something up if you can’t enjoy your own company, and I say this with 7 cats. Everyone needs their own space some of the time. It’s time for us to delve into our interests or just zone out until we’re back on call.

I’m the same, if not more so. I like a bit of company but not for too long. I need to recharge my batteries after I see people. I’ve come to understand that I’m an introvert and that’s just fine. We’re not antisocial, that’s something else entirely.

I’ve had five holidays on my own, Greece and Turkey. It’s extremely liberating to go on your own. You have only yourself to please, no one else to consider, no compromises, no arguments, it’s lovely.

I love my holidays! I've been all over the world - Switzerland, Austria and South Korea are my favourite places. I'm not an early riser, so stay in bed until my body is ready to get up, eat whatever I fancy and if I want to spend all day sitting on a bench reading a book, then I do just that.

To me it seems you have excellent balance in your life. You socialise with friends and family but also ensure you have the time alone that you need. That balance is something many people strive for and struggle to achieve.
