Washing machines

What washing machine have you got and would you recommend?

I have a Blomberg, it's 9 months old and no longer working properly, cycles are getting confused, just keeps going and the timing sticks at say 15 mins left. Sometimes works and other times not. Will get Blomberg out as under warranty but wondering if I should just get a better one as never liked it.

Last washer was hoover and only lasted just past the warranty. Mum had the same one and it also packed up with same error after 12 months, got a replacement and after 3 years only works on quick wash now.

Previous one was Zanussi and had that 18 years or so. Do they still exist?

I need to do a load every day, and willing to pay more for something reliable, bonus if I can fit a king size quilt in.

I am on my second Beko washing machine, the first one lasted 9 years.
I bought one that is easy to use with turning knobs and minimal display, my theory is less to go wrong.

@Ilovechees3I think you're right too many fandangled things to go wrong these days

My Bosch is over 11 years old and still going strong. One of the basic models and I live alone so it perhaps doesn’t get the highest use.

I have an AEG, but the first one broke after 6 weeks. So It's a replacement, they only replaced it after I was about to get a solicitor.I would get a Miele if I can afford it next time.

I’d always thought I’d save for a Miele, but I’ve heard mixed reviews about their latest models, at least the ones at the cheaper end.

My Samsung 10kg wifi Ecobubble has lasted 5.5 years with VERY heavy use, but I think it is starting to have some niggles. Probably because I usually load it too full (with a small gap at the top). I'm also guilty of washing too many heavy items like a full load with bath mats, bath sheets and other towels.

I have a large family and dogs. I do about 10 loads a week and it fits my superking duvet.

When it dies, I am happy to look at Samsung again. (Not with their Q-Drive or Autodose again though! Those features I don't recommend.)

This is interesting I always try to buy a mid price machine but the last one a samsung lasted 5 years, the first AEG 6 weeks.I might try a really cheap one next time.Or a Miele, if I can.

QueenofFox · 02/01/2026 17:16

Bosch going strong after 5 years, I think they’re good.

MrsMattSantos · 02/01/2026 17:20

got a bosch which is still grand after 5 years - it replaced a previous bosch which lasted 15 years. do probably one wash a day on average

sesquipedalian · 02/01/2026 17:21

I have a Miele - one of the less complicated ones. I would totally recommend it. I have had mine for some while (over 10 years). If it were to go wrong, I would unhesitatingly buy another.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 02/01/2026 17:39

LG direct drive, first one was 18 years old, this one 3 and counting.

Myfridgeiscool · 02/01/2026 17:55

I’ve had several Bosch machines. They usually last over 8 years. I’m old, I’ve had a few!

spanielitis · 02/01/2026 18:04

Ive had Bosch mid range and they’ve always lasted well - unfortunately as I’d like to ditch mine for a bigger drum to get the duvet in but can’t justify it

Bigpinkslippers · 02/01/2026 19:32

Ooh interesting Bosh seems worth looking into

Lg here and hand on heart wouldn’t consider anything else

EBearhug · 02/01/2026 19:58

I got a Bosch last year to replace my 18yo Bosch.

I moved into a rental property and bought the Beko from the previous tenants for £20. I stayed there almost six years and could not destroy it (landlord had said they would buy me one if I wanted/needed one). Moved out recently as I bought and gave it away. Am convinced it was indestructible. Now have a Hotpoint which came with the house I bought. It has a 50 degrees and a 70 degrees so after multiple washes to clean it, it is staying.

We have a Samsung, going strong after about 6 years

Maryberrysbouffant · 02/01/2026 20:55

I bought a Bosch because they have a five year warranty

RandomMess · 02/01/2026 21:01

I mourn the fact that you can no longer buy ones with simple individual dials for temperature spin and cycle length. Far less to go wrong than those with brains.

Same, easy to use quick wash facility. Don’t need one with lots of bells and whistles!

Another vote for the simplicity of a Beko. Had one at a holiday flat and bought one when our old Zanussi keeled over. Would 💯 recommend
