Quality, hard wearing clothing?

Does it exist anymore?!

I’m talking basics like jeans, hoodies, T-shirts etc. rather than smart clothing. My issue specifically is with men’s clothing. I can find decent brands for me, but either they are too ‘ADHD’ (think Lucy and Yak) or the men’s equivalent (Boden, Seasalt) feels too formal/middle aged/wanky.

DH got a hoodie for Christmas. It has already got a hole in the seam! Every single pair of jeans he owns seem to rip or fray quickly - including Levi’s. Equally stitching on T-shirts seems to unravel. He’s looks like a flipping scarecrow half the time because he hates buying clothes so doesn’t replace stuff.

Apparently Dickies have gone downhill now so they’re out. Is there any brands that HAVEN’T outsourced their manufacturing to massive Asian factories with poor quality control?

I only noticed this yesterday. Girls with a gut hanging out between their tiny top & bottoms. Medium sized girls, bigger girls. Skinny girls wearing even less. Girls were all different shapes & sizes when I was young too, obviously.

But we looked a lot better in our jeans & jumpers. And had really nice clothes when we went to college & started working, in the mid-90s, early Noughties. There was low-rise jeans, and lots of us had eating disorders, that’s true…

No way we would have worn what girls are wearing today. Think back to Bridget Jones being “fat”. It’s a different world, you don’t see as many skinny kids running around, the way we did. Life is more sedentary. As long as they’re happy!

My reply is to a different post which has now been deleted, about teeny girls clothing. Not sure how it ended up here?!

But this is a similar topic as it happens, where is all the lovely clothes for young women? I used to but such nice things from a range of high street stores, not expensive either.

The market for good clothes that last isn't there any more. People generally don't want to pay for well-made clothes.

For hoodies, I think Uniqlo, Primark and M&S are ok.
My jeans seem to last forever. The pair I'm wearing are well over 10 years old. They were described as 'vintage' (bu a mean friend) then. They're Diesel ones.

Levi's have gone downhill but if you're careful some are still durable. They're the ones that feel like cardboard when you buy them.

Good post as I have thought exactly the same for a long time. I want good quality everyday clothes but the problem is cost, nothing of quality is reasonably priced and then when you pay through the nose you are so conscious of wearing it incase of damage.

carhartt seem to be a favoured brand. Some names have become fashion brands eg JCB. Strauss are supposedly good (German)

The thing is, if you look at a site like Commuity Clothing the prices are ok.
It seems expensive because we've become used to cheap prices for fast fashion.
People want Community Clothing clothes at Primark prices.
