So today I braved the scales and I’m 8lbs up compared to December 19th when I last weighed. 8lbs!!!! I knew that if indulged a little, but that’s ridiculous

Same here...I can't fit into any of my jeans and am the heaviest I've ever been, almost as heavy as when pregnant 😭

travailtotravel · 01/01/2026 21:44

Me too and I don't think i was even that bad. Long tough January chucking it off again!

myusernamewastakenbyme · 01/01/2026 21:45

I have gone from 11.5 to 9.13 in the last 6 months by eating a low calorie diet...Im currently 10.2 after Xmas...I weigh daily as it keeps me on track and if i put on a couple of pounds i find it quite easy to get it off again.

Same here, I think it's mainly roasts, sandwiches and after eights, maybe also Tesco black forest Christmas pudding which is delightful.
Get back on the wagon and weigh again in a fortnight you'll be at least 4 pounds down

10lbs on here 😎

Bigcoat1 · 01/01/2026 21:49

I’m currently drinking a glass of port whilst eating a cadburys twirl…. Perhaps that’s part of the problem!

I doubt it’s actually 8lbs of fat, in a couple of weeks. That would mean you ate 28000 calories in a couple of weeks over what you need. It’s more likely to be a few extra pounds and then water retention due to extra salt, alcohol etc.

Berlinlover · 01/01/2026 23:28

I have gone on a 5km walk every day this week but haven’t been brave enough to weigh myself.

SheSpeaks · 01/01/2026 23:32

Throw out the scales.

Problem solved!

MagneticSquirrel · 02/01/2026 14:27

3lbs, obviously had big dinners, drinks and puddings, mince pies and chocolates for 25-27th and NYE and NYD but tried to only have one meal a day and exercised everyday except Christmas Day and New Years Day (planned to run but was too hungover!).

Given on the Christmas “The Wheel” I think they said people consume 6000 calories which would be a 1lb+ weight gain on average on Christmas Day I can see how 7lbs gain is achievable over the festive period!

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 02/01/2026 14:30

Around 4lb, and i haven't especially over eaten but I have a back injury and have battled this fluey thing going round so food has been comforting and the gym has been very basic. No sweaty sessions working muscles to failure as my back is too sore. So its been more physiotherapy than exercise.

Its fine, I'm going to go back to decent calorie counting and once my back is healed get back to the gym.

Nothing as I have been illSad So much tasty food and no appetite!

DarkEyedSailor · 02/01/2026 14:33

Only 1lb but I did have a vomiting bug for part of the holidays.

BadgernTheGarden · 02/01/2026 14:43

Actually only 2 pounds up over Christmas and pre-Christmas birthdays! But was drifting up before then so 6-8 pounds to lose to get back to where I was.

DrunkenKoala · 02/01/2026 15:34

Between the 2 Nov and 21 Dec I lost 10lbs and then between 21 Dec and now I’ve put 5 back on. I have been eating more sugary crap and moving far far less than normal but hoping that next week when I’m back in my normal routine it’ll drop off Hmm

SatsumaDog · 02/01/2026 15:38

2 pounds here and i thought i was being careful! Unfortunately it’s all too easily done and takes work to get off. Gone are the days when I could eat what I wanted with no consequences.

LikeWhoUsesTypewritersAnyway · 02/01/2026 15:46

I haven't put any weight on over Christmas, and I usually don't.

But....

I always gain weight through January and February. Gloomy melancholy months, and I spend 3-4 weeks finishing off the Christmas food, and there's Valentine's Day and a few family birthdays, (during January and February,) and by early March I am half a stone heavier than 1st January!

It is all sodium and not real fat gains.
