I need to improve my fitness but don't know where to start. I am 62 and a bit overweight . I have arthritis in my lower back and a sore/stiff right hip/leg, I do physio exercises for this.

I struggle with bending and I can't easily get up from kneeling to standing. I need to improve my core strength i think. I plan to walk more so it's more core strength exercises i need but it needs to be fun. I used to dance and i really detest boring routines.

I have enjoyed Pilates and yoga in the past but I haven't done any for a long time. I often did the January yoga with Adriene and liked it but i cannot support myself on my knees now,

I've really let myself go and i hate myself for this. My DH is extremely fit and very motivated and conscientious about running and doing his strength routines. I really let the side down.

Sorry for the ramble. Any help or advice will be gratefully received. Thanks.

I wonder if your dr can refer you for exercise? Starting with a trainer who understands your needs, is able to help you find a suitable plan, teach and correct will really help you.

Goodnick. I recommend highly. Aimed at women over 50. I have been doing for 18 months and it’s made a massive difference to me in terms of what I can now achieve and couldn’t do before. I wanted something other than walking which was all I previously did.

I know you said you don't want a class but for me it's regular routine and having a commitment that makes the difference. Have a good luck at that is available. A small group strength training class would be a good option.

For yoga, Yoga with Uliana is good for standing videos. She does a lot around 10-20 mins.

Fit by mik on YouTube is good. She has a lot of standing workouts. A lot of her routines use dumbbells but you can fill up a bottle with water to use as a weight when you get started.

I did a 14 minute Joe Wicks one this morning and it was very good. There was only one thing I couldn't do and i substituted a physio exercise. He doesn't faff about and gets on with it quickly. I will try more of his because he has plenty of different ones and I shouldn't get bored.

Highly recommend this https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61584506168805 . She also does Pilates classes which are aimed at older women - including some seated/supported classes.

I've been trying out a few Julia Reppel videos on YouTube and I like her. The ones with Mobility in the title are great, I'm focussing on mobility rather than held stretches or aerobic stuff for now.

1 mile walking workout. Usually 5 min warm up, 5 mins little bit faster, 5 mins cool down. Leslie is great for this.
