“Man of honour”?? Or Best Man and just have two of them, assuming the groom has a best man as well.

ChrimboLimbo · 29/12/2025 16:46

Man of honour, best man implies the man's person.

But I think it depends on roles, but either is fine.

CurlewKate · 29/12/2025 16:47

Yeah-she thought about best man-but was hoping to think of something different.

Man of honour is what seems to be used the most but I’ve seen mate of honour a couple of times too.

chisping · 29/12/2025 16:53

We had a best woman.
Man of Honour has a nice ring

ElizabethsTailor · 29/12/2025 16:54

Chief Bridesman.

WallaceinAnderland · 29/12/2025 16:55

Man of honour is most often used and surely appropriate as he's a man not a woman?

Tarkan · 29/12/2025 16:55

We had a best woman at our wedding and I’ve just remembered when DH was part of her wedding party he was called the homme d’honneur despite none of us being French LOL

DidIForgetPEAgain · 29/12/2025 17:06

Mate of honour

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 29/12/2025 17:09

We just leant into it when my best friend got married. I was referred to as her maid of honour throughout.

I did however renege on the drunken promise I once made to wear a very pretty dress.

worcesterpear · 29/12/2025 17:10

What about guest of honour, I know someone who had this for a woman, who I think just didn't want to be called a maid or matron.

SheSpeaks · 29/12/2025 17:14

Surely Patron of Honour if you must use something in this context.

I never refer to anyone as Patron but then I never use Matron unless I’m in a carry on film.

ElizabethVonArnim · 29/12/2025 17:16

the Paladin

topcat2014 · 29/12/2025 17:19

He’s now very keen on being an “homme d’honneur”….
