What would you buy with £500 of John Lewis vouchers?

I've very generously been gifted £500 of John Lewis vouchers (from different people!) this year.

I don't often visit JL, although there is one in my city, so I don't really know where to start. I don't "need" anything, and I'm not very good at treating myself. So, what would you buy if you were me?

For the home:Kitchen aid(if you bake)
Really good cookware, crockery etc.
Christmas decorations
Quality bedding
Silk pillows

OR, treats for you:
Dyson hairdryer.
New straighteners
A really good coat
Cashmere
Perfume
Wolford or Falke tights(trust me on this one)
Handbag
Chanel lipsticks
YSL mascara
Elemis skincare

Those would be my first choices! Please update us with your haul OP.
Enjoy your spend 💐

Apologies just noticed Kitchenaids are more than £500, unless they price match other retailers with better deals?!

I’d probably use them in Waitrose for a few weeks of food shopping and then just get myself what I wanted if and when I needed or wanted it with the money I hadn’t spent on food shopping!

This. Otherwise it could take years to need £500 of stuff from JL especially if you’re set for appliances.

WTAF?! It is quite beautiful, but £599 for a kettle?!

We have a smeg kettle that we’ve had for many years that’s on its last legs. I look at the current colour options but I’m always drawn to the dolce and gabbana. If I had a “free” £500 I’d buy it and I’d have my new kettle for only £99. That’s my maths 😉

Tom Raffield lamp.

shuffleofftobuffalo · 28/12/2025 18:31

I’d buy a le creuset dutch oven and stock up on Clinique.

Blogswife · 28/12/2025 18:32

Dyson hair wrap and YSL foundation & primer

Duckingpondlake · 28/12/2025 18:32

Curtains. They have the most lovely curtains.

madaboutpurple · 28/12/2025 18:33

I think a beautiful bag would be ideal.

A robot vacuum

Dear God, no.
Buy something nice for yourself, not stuff to do f*ing housework!

Miranda65 · 28/12/2025 18:37

Decent luggage - one medium or large suitcase, one small cabin bag suitcase and a practical handbag, like Longchamps Le Pliage.
(Or just one case and one bag, if budget doesn't stretch.... £500 won't go far).

You'll get a lot of use from all of them, but it's not boring stuff like dishwasher, vacuum cleaner etc.

CheeriosOrFrosties · 28/12/2025 20:40

Clothes are a possibility, maybe a cashmere jumper as my current one has seen better days.

I don't drink enough coffee to warrant a coffee machine, but the mention of Ninja made me wonder about an air fryer.

Laptop is a good call, or furniture. Things like luggage I have got a couple of non matching cases, but they work perfectly fine, so it feels like I would be wasting the vouchers spending them on something that I don't really need.

(Maybe I'm thinking about this far too deeply, but I've recently been discussing "worth" with my therapist, and making these choices is bringing up a lot of conflicting thoughts/ideas about my worth, and how difficult I'm finding it to accept that it's ok to spend this money on myself)

Personal shopper for clothes. If you can get an appointment soon they will find you sale items as well as full price. You could book a 1hr appointment just to find the perfect coat or a 2hr for a new outfit so jeans, top, trainers etc. And having a stylist say how great it looks abs doing all the leg work for you actually helps with the self worth type anxiety, I find

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 28/12/2025 22:03

Smartwatch

DJSteves · 28/12/2025 22:51

Sage coffee machine

Zov · 28/12/2025 22:53

I'd sell them on Ebay - for £400. Never shop at John Lewis.

Needmorelego · 28/12/2025 23:16

I'd do my food shop at Waitrose until the £500 runs out.

PermanentTemporary · 28/12/2025 23:19

Personally right now, a canteen of cutlery.

Years ago, pure cotton bedding (which I now have).

ManyPigeons · 28/12/2025 23:38

A new dinner set of beautiful plates and bowls. Maybe Denby

A smeg dolce and gabbana kettle. A thing of beauty but you have to add £99.

Oh I've seen them.. not my cup of tea ( pardon the pun 🤣) but that's why we all have different tastes.

WhineAndWine1 · 29/12/2025 12:17

@Zov How have you never shopped at JL? Mind blown

Most towns in the UK don't have branches of John Lewis.

IceIceSlippyIce · 29/12/2025 13:38

@WhineAndWine1 it's a 90 min drive to my nearest JL (and nearest waitrose isn't much closer). Why would I shop there?

Thinking that JL is a normal shop that 'everyone' shops at regularly is very 'only on MN'.

This thread is a case in point. People talking merrily about spending that amount of money on a kettle, luggage or crockery as if it's a normal thing to do.

I'm not saying people shouldn't buy nice things or good quality there comes a point when you're not getting anything objectively better for the higher price tag.

TherebytheGraceofGodgoI · 29/12/2025 14:07

A cashmere snood for a bit of luxury. I bought a hot pink one for me from me for Christmas and I love it.
