How can I let things stop bothering me?

When you are really upset about something, how do you put it in the back of your mind?

When I am upset or worried, I find it hard to crack on with my day. Anyone else like this?

Well, it depends on how serious the upsetting thing is, surely? If I’m ‘really upset’, then it’s something serious, so I let myself feel whatever it is, rather than ‘cracking on’ or putting it to the back of my mind — why wouldn’t I?

I'm a huge overthinker and read into every situation. I have to write it down, in long form in order to hope to put it away or I cant sleep and drive friends and family mad. I read once if you can write it down in a succinct and clear way that's half the battle. Not a psychologist but it works for me. I don't tend to ever read it back but writing it down seems to stop it going round

Yes, try and get into a routine and stick to it - it will take you much longer and you won’t feel like it but you will keep going

Don't think of it as a flaw, it's actually a body defence mechanism kicking in. The hard part is not letting it get to you, which is easier said then done

Normally I have a good rant, stamp my feet, get it out of my system and then move on.
