Feel tender after eating a lot...

Ok so this is a weird one BUT it happens to both my husband and I but Google isn't much help.

Basically if we have a heavy calorie day (like a birthday/big meal out for example) we both feel very tender all over the next day. Like when you've bruised yourself.

What on earth is this is my overall question but I guess the main one is, does anyone else get this!?

Woke up this morning with the standard tenderness. It's not terribly painful, just weird really.

So it is just us then 😂

I feel like I've got a mild UTI after eating beef (sensitive bladder until next day)

I think food can affect us a lot

not heard of that. Where do you feel tender? I always get a bad stomach when I eat too much, that makes me feel tender 🤣

I wouldn't say I feel tender as such. But the stomach bloat/firmness and general ughness is unpleasant! It is only something I've noticed since losing weight and spending the last 2.5 years on a lower cal/increased exercise lifestyle, however.

It's basically all over between my neck and my waist. So including my stomach but not my stomach in a tummy ache way, like I've been punched! It's so odd. Have only noticed it the past few years

Yep I get exactly the same! Like I’m sore to touch all over. No idea scientifically, I just assume it’s my fat cells expanding 🤣. Lots of water gets rid of it.

RandomUsernameHere · 26/12/2025 21:19

Yes I get exactly this!

Thewovenform98 · 26/12/2025 21:21

It’s sugar isn’t it? In other words, a lot of carbs? Causes my joints to ache the next day anyway.

I’ve just looked it up on AI (so it must be true 😆 🤔🤨🧐) :

Yes, excessive intake of added sugars and refined carbohydrates significantly promotes inflammation in* *the body, triggering immune responses and increasing inflammatory markers like cytokines. While all carbs break down to glucose, refined carbs (white bread, pastries) and sugars (soda, candy) cause rapid blood sugar spikes, leading to chronic, low-grade inflammation linked to conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. In contrast, complex carbs in whole foods (fruits, vegetables, whole grains) can fight inflammation due to fiber and phytonutrients.

It’s a possible explanation anyway. I’m not sure about the time scale though.

Soooo! I looked on Reddit and there's a whole massive thread about people describing this, but I'm relation to alcohol so maybe it's either the same thing OR it is the alcohol that causes it. I usually only have one drink at the weekend but yesterday I did have prosecco, wine and a snowball (not loads of any though and certainly wasn't drunk).

gallbladder?
my middle right feels like being kicked by a horse after too much and too rich food.
a day or two of almost fasting helps

DisappointedD · 26/12/2025 21:30

Inflammation maybe? Some foods can trigger inflammatory responses

somanychristmaslights · 26/12/2025 21:31

Get some Pepto Bismol. Amazing stuff.

BillieWiper · 26/12/2025 21:34

Yeah I feel kind of swollen. But not my whole body. Really just my belly and I guess my lungs and heart almost as if the food in my belly is squashing into them?!

If it's inflammation it could be allergy?

Thewovenform98 · 26/12/2025 21:47

Another possibility is a fatty liver?
