The nice Christmas thread.

The Internet, especially mumsnet, is usually a place to vent. As could be predicted, most threads are from people who are upset, frustrated or tired and over/underwhelmed.

Here is the thread for those that had a nice Christmas. Come and share yours.

I have split from my DCs dad and we alternate Christmas. This year was my year. The DC are 9 and 12 and autistic, they were so well behaved, everything went smoothly and all the gifts were well received. We even had some little Christmas miracles involving blind bag type gifts.

I didn't know if my mum would like her gift, it was a wildcard but it got a clap and a cheer.

I had a lovely day.

I had a lovely Christmas.

  • Enjoyed church and a windy walk.
  • Cooked an absolutely banging lunch, if I say so myself.
  • Everyone seemed v happy with their presents including a few wildcards
  • DD gave me a beautiful pot which I absolutely love
  • Played lots of games
  • Our puppy had a lovely time and behaved well

Same here. We had a lovely day. 😊The lunch went perfectly, all the presents were right, the house looked and smelt great.

Now there is enough food in, that I won't need to shop for at least a week.

Yes. I think the house being spotless and me not being up until 3am wrapping helped massively in the lovely Christmas vibe. 🤣

I too did a bangin' Christmas Dinner . Roast potatoes were delicious and the Yorkshire Puddings were epic . ( I watch them through the glass oven door until we prepare to be dazzled Grin )

Our DC are adults , (DS is not much into Christmas ) we went to London (theatre) and shopping , and a weekend trip away .

They have Dec 1st boxes , then DD has presents ( she chooses or gives a list ) , DS had money .
I had a Rituals Advent Calendar and before the 2026 No Spend kicks in I bought myself a dress (M&S sale) and a top .
I did the Christmas Clean-A-Long so I was organised .
Except I forgot the cloves for bread sauce . Some might say a narrow escape ! Xmas Grin

My dinner was the best I've ever done! The yorkshires rose so much they stuck to the top of the oven 😁Potatoes were insta worthy.

I love watching DC open their presents. DS got a Lego set and I bought lights to go with it. He didn't know that was a thing (neither did I until I googled the set to buy it) so his mind was totally blown.

We hosted DS and his fiancée on Christmas Eve for drinks and make-your-own home made pizzas ( we made the dough in the breadmaker) followed by a trifle I made and chocolates. We played Scrabble and had Christmas music. Today and yesterday was just DH and myself. It’s been so incredibly chilled and Zen. We went for a walk on both days and have eaten lovely food and pleased ourselves. We will host the olds next year ( our turn) but for now just enjoying the moments. Cheers to all.

Well, I'm back at work now and full of cold. It was nice while it lasted.
