Didn’t we use to have a stationery board? I can’t find it / remember what it was called.

I have a very specific thing in mind. It starts with a regular 1 year, weekly view diary, and then has LOADS of blank sheets for notes / bullet journaling. Essentially a diary stacked on top of a journal, but in one big fat beautiful ring bound book.

Ideally all the notes pages are perforated, and there’s a bit of space for to do lists or notes on the diary pages, but not tonnes.

What I don’t need:

  • month to view pages
  • a bloody habit tracker
  • any inspirational quotes or journaling prompts
  • perforated shopping lists
  • stickers

Does this exist? Where might somebody find such a thing?

Filofax?

KnickerlessParsons · 26/12/2025 00:01

I thought Filofax too. Is it still a thing?

Shmasherley · 26/12/2025 06:59

@CrispyK this might be a workable alternative.

Also, I’ve not even considered Filofax because I think of them as being really dated, but looking at the website now there are some really contemporary options too. These are both brilliant suggestions, thank you!

It's not ring bound but the hobonichi weeks mega ticks most of your boxes and is very pleasing. I use one! It's available a few places including Amazon.

Anything with paper is in theory dated but Filofax offer so many variables with refills. Been using a Filofax for 30 years. I love the whole Organiser, paper and pen thing

If you are really picky and have this drama every year.... buy yourself a cinch and a printer and make your own. :)
Not sure what i mean, put cinch journal in youtube and take a look.

If you can do layouts yourself it is totally personalisable, if not loads of digital down loads on etsy. Printing your own pages means you can also choose and vary the paper weight for different sections. And you can reuse the section tabs and covers year on year, and reuse the unused pages in the this years journal. If you want you can also rebind any 'used' pages you want to keep as a memory book.

I never ever found what I wanted journal wise so I'd print my own out and then use the bullet journal method for the to do lists etc. On my last laptop I had all the things I'd devised to make my own but alas when I downloaded them all onto a hard drive I was never able to load them up again.

Pleased to have found this thread, it's given my some motivation to sort my life out.

OP, for the last few years I've been using bullet journal type method and drawing in my own pages in an A5 6 ring filofax cover with dotted paper. Made it perfect for my use but I get fed up drawing them out. I've just looked at some ready printed pages on amazon and there's much more choice than there used to be so I'm sure I'll find the right ones.

Last year I went digital, used Todoist app. Took ages setting it up so it was perfect and it worked really well until it didn't then it was overwhelming to try to sort out. I need to find a hybrid method, paper for notes, appointment, events and app for tasks and reminders.

DualPower · 27/12/2025 17:31

Hobonichi is always good, weeks or the A5.
Traveler's Notebook is also fantastic as you can build it yourself with what suits you.
Easy to go down rabbit holes with those though. Japanese stationery is just to die for.

Filofax will absolutely do what you want, mine is 44 years old and still going strong although now I'm retired and DC have left home I use it mainly as a gardening journal now.

I have been bombarded with adverts for this Paper Republic range, and I'm so sorely tempted even though I don't need it at all. Quite spenny, but you only need to buy the cover once and there is a good choice of refills

I have that - the grand voyageur. It's very pleasing but I don't like it for everyday. I use it for longer term things, recipes and such.

I use a hobonichi weeks for daily personal use and a hobonichi cousin avec for work.

Lobstersalad · 30/12/2025 17:45

I have this. Cheaper on Amazon. It’s a great size and you can fill it with other brand inserts that suit you. I have dots and squares from Amazon on quality, thick paper. I find Filofax papers flimsy and pens bleed through too easily. The cover is really soft and tactile, I love it.
