I’m fed up of cheapy thin supermarket last minute panic purchase wrapping paper. I want to stock up somewhere in the post-Christmas sale, main requirements are for the paper to be recyclable and beautiful / classy. Stylish gift wrappers, advise me where to look, please!

It seems to be a rarity to find lovely shiny paper. I paid some fair amount of money for some off Amazon

I’m not sure what your budget is but I think TK Maxx always have a beautiful selection and it’s pretty decent quality IMO. I stocked up last year for this one.

A few years ago I got some lovely paper from Waterstones. No idea if they still do it though.
Generally I’ve been happy with the ones from WHSmith. Not amazing quality but better than supermarket ones.

Not the Aldi wrapping paper!!! It was thinner than toilet paper even double wrapping didn’t work.

@HearMeSnore Waterstones is £2.75 per sheet 😳

@Shmasherley M&S has decent quality rolls.
I was still using some I'd purchased a few years ago

Next is very good quality with classic colours and designs.

I second M and S - decent quality, wraps well and not see-through.

Game changer and the perfect time to sort this is to make fabric giftbags. Go to your local John Lewis / fabric shop over the next few days and grab several metres of different christmassy prints on sale. Sew them up into drawstring bags of varying sizes, use spare bits of ribbon if you have them for the drawstring. Super easy and worth the time investment. Then every year you get them out and the wrapping takes hardly any time at all - just find appropriate size bags, put gift in, and tie up. No tape / scissors required. We hardly use any wrapping paper as a result. I've added embroidered felt patches to some of them too, like with Christmas puddings etc. They look a lot nicer than paper wrapping paper.

We only use wrapping paper for stocking fillers or larger gifts, but we recycle it from previous years, some pieces are probably on their 4 or 5th year of use now. You can also buy a tag cutting thingy and make tags out of your Christmas cards.

Wow! When I bought it, it was a 2m roll for £1 in the January sale. That was a few years go though.

M&S is the best 'cheap' wrapping paper.
Otherwise I think you will be buying sheets of beautiful and expensive paper which will be expensive.

Waitrose has some lovely kraft paper
based Christmas wrap rolls - I especially liked the red with gold Merry Christmas on it - but I don’t know if any is still left.

I got some lovely thick brown paper recyclable type from Argos of all places. Nice print too- three for two and the rolls are 10m long. Highly recommend
