Merry Christmas mumsnetters 🎄

Can anyone please advise if you need to remove anything from Aldi large turkey crown ?

Dh is making the Christmas day buffet and has just put the turkey in the oven. I am sitting here like Confused

Edited to add I've checked Google but it's useless.

Usually only the ‘drip catcher’ thingie that’s on the tray. They don’t normally have giblets in if it’s just the crown.

What does the packet say?

Crowns don't usually come with giblets, if that's what you're concerned about.

And some don't tell you to remove the drip catcher or even specifically tell you to keep it in, which is why I suggested checking the packaging.

No but I’d definitely put strips of bacon on top or butter between the flesh and skin and some seasoning. But there shouldn’t be anything to remove!

JudgeBread · 25/12/2025 14:48

He's just shoved it in the oven? No bacon, no veg trivet, no butter rub, absolutely nothing to add or preserve moisture? That's... A choice.

The packaging didn't mention giblets or anything. He's binned the foil tin and all packaging before I could read it. Yeah he just brought it out the fridge for ten minutes wrapped it in foil then bunged it in the oven. This is his first time making Christmas day food and his first time ever making turkey, he's never cooked chicken or beef or anything like that before either.

But late but we had the same, instructions were to leave on foil tray, cover with foil and stick it in the oven. Remove foil after an hour and baste every 30 mins. Ours was delicious abd lovely and moist.

It must be on a roasting tray to catch the juices that will escape the foil, and burn on the oven bottom
