Where have you hidden your presents?

Not a burglar! Just nosey 😁

80% of mine are in the ottoman bed storage and the prepped stockings are in a large shopper inside the wardrobe.
The ones for friends and extended family are under the tree in Christmas bags, ready to deliver or hand out.

Mainly in plain sight! Wrapped under the Christmas tree. Stocking presents are in a carrier bag at the bottom of my wardrobe, they are only small.

Nincompoo · 24/12/2025 10:50

My children are all adult or almost adult
so they’re all under the tree. Anything with chocolate in is on the window cil as my dog is a dreadful thief.

WooYa · 24/12/2025 10:53

Gas meter cupboard, boiler cupboard, in a giant shopping bag with random stuff on top where my oldest cant see 😂

Curiousrobin · 24/12/2025 10:56

Scattered. Some on top of the wardrobe, some in the spare room (which will be a nursery next year so the last year I'll be able to do that!), some in the lounge waiting to take to relatives. We do have an ottoman bed so might need to use that next year, if I can find space!

BigJanette · 24/12/2025 11:02

@Curiousrobin the secret of using the ottoman bed is to NEVER let your kids see it lifted up so they don't know about its magical properties so won't ever go sneaking in there.
(Plus our mattress weighs a tonne so they wouldn't be able to lift it anyway).
I've just remembered there are a couple of big items stored in the huge linen closet on the way up to the third floor, which use to house the water tank before conversion.

We cannot put presents under the tree before the kids are asleep on Christmas eve night, as one of the absolutely cannot cope with knowing there are things there for him that he can't access. They were on top of the wardrobe, but he was asking questions about what was up there and would have tried climbing up there. Now they are in a big cardboard box that the guinea pig bedding was delivered in, as he would never decide to clean the piggies enclosure.

Mumtumtastic · 24/12/2025 11:07

All over the bloomin shop like a deranged squirrel and have lost at least 5 of them! 😭

CheeseWisely · 24/12/2025 11:09

DS is only 18 months and miraculously hasn’t been too interested in the tree so I’ve managed to put wrapped things under it and behind the chair that’s next to it already. Last year I’ll be able to do that I imagine! Santa will deliver a couple more bits tonight that will be built and on display ready to play with when he wakes up tomorrow 🙂

Georgiepud · 24/12/2025 11:13

Round at the in laws.

They guard them in a spare bedroom and my husband picks them up late tonight when the children have gone to bed.

ImFineItsAllFine · 24/12/2025 11:17

They were in the wardrobe in the spare room but we have PILs arriving today who will be staying in there, so I've had to shift them all. Mostly they are in the top of DHs wardrobe now but there's a few in the airing cupboard!

TokyoSushi · 24/12/2025 11:25

Extended family & friends, in my office (WFH) DC & DH in the ottoman bed, where only I ever look! It’s too heavy for the DC to lift up!

ScarlettSunset · 24/12/2025 11:25

I don't even have small children, and I've still hidden the presents in three different places...some in my wardrobe, another in a box box that was supposed to get put in the loft about 5 years ago, but never did. And some, in a box in my son's bedroom on his bed. He'll have to move them when he's back today, but those ones aren't for him so he'll be OK with that.

Thecomfortador · 24/12/2025 11:25

Stocking fillers in the purple suitcase under the bed. Random bits in various cupboards as it's a chore to get the suitcase out. Wrapped presents mainly in the utility room where the kids don't venture. Cardboard house in the shed, I must remember about it tonight.

GoodBrew · 24/12/2025 11:27

One of the many joys of having ND kids is they have the particular autism variety that makes them absolute sticklers for following rules. So no hiding necessary!

Now they are older I have asked them if they ever did sneak a peek and honestly they were shocked at the suggestion. Once they categorize things into a particular mental box they absolutely will not be able to recategorize it (forbidden to allowed).

Of course parents of ND kids will understand the flip side to this, total rigidity of thought and difficulty coping with change. But it does have it's perks occasionally!

Natsku · 24/12/2025 11:42

They were hidden in the storeroom in our basement. So well hidden I couldn't find the earmuffs I got DS so bought a new pair (decided I must have imagined buying them) then found the original pair yesterday Grin

EveryDayisFriday · 24/12/2025 11:46

My youngest is 13 and this is the first year that we have put them all under the tree before Xmas Eve. What an absolute treat. We can go to bed at a reasonable time tonight without having to hang around waiting for the kids to fall asleep and then scurry heavy bags from the loft or car boot.

kittyfairy66 · 24/12/2025 11:47

Washing machine room is currently blocked off with the laundry basket either a note dating loo broke also lol as it's full also glad we have a 2nd loo

blankcanvas3 · 24/12/2025 12:37

They have been at DH’s office for weeks but now they’re locked in the utility room. Youngest won’t go in there and doesn’t matter if the eldest goes in there because he doesn’t believe in Santa anymore!

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 24/12/2025 12:42

my bedroom is the loft so no hiding space really but we’ve always had them in plain sight. When the kids ask who the black bags full of presents are for I just reel Off various relatives names and they quickly lose interest. It’s worked for years. Kids just believe what I tell them 🤷🏻‍♀️

Pineapplewaves · 24/12/2025 12:49

In storage bags on my bedroom floor, DC think I’ve been having a big clear out and the bags are waiting to go into the loft or garage for storage. They think the bags are full of old clothes and things I no longer have room for.

ChristmasMantleStatue · 24/12/2025 12:51

Under the tree.

Dcs are old enough that it is fine.

A few years back I kept them on top of the wardrobe. Then in the summer when we dismantled that wardrobe to sell on FB marketplace I found two that I had forgotten. Both cds that had sort of flattened themselves like spiders against the top and had gone unnoticed by my searching fingers.

Tiddlersfish · 24/12/2025 12:53

In the hallway cupboard, in sacks which are then put in bin bags - we have a 5 year old and a 17 month old so have to have a decent hiding space!

winterbluess · 24/12/2025 12:55

Wrapped, in bin bags disguised as rubbish in the garage 🤣

christmassaurus · 24/12/2025 12:55

Until today they were all just wrapped up and in bags our bedroom, stocking presents in a zipped up bag. Now they're under my mums tree (with stocking presents still in the bag in my childhood bedroom). 4yo DD mentioned them a few days ago but has left them alone, DS (10 months) has mainly ignored them until this morning when he partially unwrapped one for me 😆

BoarBrush · 24/12/2025 12:57

We have a giant wood framed modular sofa, perfect for hiding presents.
