Fridge - Hive Mind of MN needed!

For the first time I actually need to know my fridge temp but my really old (15yrs) fridge has this wacky dial. No ideal of the model other than it’s a Neff. I’m guessing one end represents 5 and the other 0 - so the dot with 5 lines must be the 5c? My brain isn’t playing well today..,help!

I'm guessing the more lines, the colder it gets. Mine goes from 0 to 5 and 5 is definitely the coldest.

My fridge, NOT a Neff, the higher the number the higher the temperature.

Have you got a thermometer you can put in the fridge?

It’s the intensity of cooling, so 5 lines is the coldest.
If you have a digital room thermometer, we have one in the garage due to the tumble dryer needing a certain temp, put it in your fridge and adjust the dial until it shows 5 degrees centigrade, the all-year-round recommended temperature
As a general rule your butter should be a solid block at that temperature.

Thanks for your replies, it was the less lines meant a higher temp so warmer fridge, which is what I was after. Turkey finally started defrosting, so that’s a relief! I think I might write some temperature numbers on there as I’ll forget by next year!
