"Click & Collect" film - have you watched it recently?

I want to check whether we can watch it with kids who still believe in Father Christmas? For context, in our house, all presents come "from Santa".

I know the premise of the film is rushing to get a particular present on Christmas Eve for a 6 year old child to open on Christmas morning. How is this handled? Is Christmas morning shown? Have other presents appeared magically from Father Christmas?

Thanks for your insights - have a 10 year old who still definitely believes and don't want to ruin what is probably the last year of this.

If all presents come from Santa, then no, I wouldn’t recommend a movie that centers around Xmas shopping.

ithinkilikethislittlelife · 21/12/2025 15:50

my youngest still believes and we have watched the film with them for a couple of years. Lots of Christmas films have people not believing anymore themes but this seems to just go over their head to be honest. We watched the Santa clause the other night and the whole film is about not believing but my 9 year old just accepts the magic 🤷🏻‍♀️

I know what you mean but I think a lot of those films end with the kid being proved wrong because clearly there IS a Santa after all!

I think we can watch this film if the present is from the parents but there are other presents there on Christmas morning (whether explained as being from Santa or not) so hoping for info about that.

The present is from the parents. You don’t see the kids open their presents the next day.

Thank you. I decided to watch a few bits in advance as DH keen to watch it but I'd rather play it safe.

We've decided not to watch it as there is a bit where the parents argue about whether buying the special toy is important. The mum
argues that it's the top thing on the child's list and the dad argues that it's well known that kids don't get everything on the list and it's just for parents to cast their eye over.

If we did presents from us AND Santa, we'd watch it this year but as we do it the way we do, we'll wait till child has stopped believing.

Thought I'd update in case this helps anyone else. Merry Christmas!

It also features Last Christmas so don’t watch if you play Whamageddon.

deplorabelle · 21/12/2025 22:43

If neither of those conditions apply, WATCH! It's a perfect little film

unlikelychump · 21/12/2025 22:47

We watched it today and loved it.

It has never occurred to me that a film.might let the cat out of the bag.

NerrSnerr · 21/12/2025 22:50

I think you’re massively over thinking. There’ll be children at school who will say they get all their gifts from their parents, some who say they get one from Santa etc. If they want to believe they will do.

Reggiebo · 21/12/2025 22:53

Overall it's more about the relationship between the 2 neighbours

Kilopascal · 21/12/2025 22:57

Surely a good idea to allow the reality to seep into a child's mind anyway, so that they half-know rather than have the whole illusion preserved too long?

VikaOlson · 21/12/2025 22:58

It's crazy to create this elaborate a lie about Santa for your kids! It's just supposed to be fun 🤔

Theslummymummy · 21/12/2025 23:24

This is my favourite film ever. I watch it every day.

They took it off Netflix and bbc last year and only just put it back on. It wasn't available to buy anywhere, then it became available on prime, so I bought it there, then 2 days later it was back on Netflix and bbc. Hahaha.

Reggiebo · 21/12/2025 23:27

I recorded to my sky box when it first came out. It's a brilliant.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 21/12/2025 23:50

Ah, dd and I used to watch this every Christmas eve, but we've not been able to for the last couple of years. We must try and watch it again this year.

AutumnAllTheWay · 21/12/2025 23:52

Absolutely brilliant film!

Weve watched it three or four times with ours and we all love it.

We watched it for 1st time just now
i wouldnt go ahead, it does go on about shopping for all gifts, the other girl who wants the toy wakes and sees them and think they are Santa, and at one stage the dad is pretending to be Santa writing a letter to his daughter…

Thank you, that's really helpful.

We love this movie and my 9 year old believer watches it over and over again! It is about parents trying to find a gift on Christmas Eve but Father Christmas makes an appearance and makes it possible!!

tonyhawks23 · 23/12/2025 17:33

Yes it's totally about Santa you can't watch it with kids although it's absolutely brilliant.
