Gift for well off hosts

I'm spending Christmas day at the house of some family members who I adore. They're sorting everything for the meal for around 20 people. Some people are bringing food, but I'm travelling from abroad so it's trickier. The family are well off (through years of hard work) so wouldn't expect a contribution in that sense.

I'm useless at this sort of social thing, even with close family. Would you send some beautiful flowers after the event? Any other ideas?

A lynx gift box?

1 very nice thing. A lovely cheese, a lovely homemade bread, cake or pie, a nice bottle of good champagne. What is your budget?

Flowers or something like a nice massage from a local business

Beautiful flowers - yes, but take them on the day rather than sending after. Don't turn up empty-handed!

She’s travelling from abroad.
I would send flowers afterwards as a thank you but come with something like some lovely hand soaps.

A hand tied boquet that’s already in water in a gift bo. So they don’t have to arrange them.

If they drink, a couple of decent bottles of champagne would go down well?

ACynicalDad · 21/12/2025 09:01

My first thought would be something from where you’re coming from.

Flowers and something from where you're travelling from. A local delicacy or something.

Bluebellrain12 · 21/12/2025 09:05

I would suggest something unique from the place you are travelling from that they wouldn't be able to get in the UK (or at least is 'better' where you are currently living). I hope you have a lovely Christmas.

Thanks everyone for the ideas! Ive gone with the nice local delicacies (that don't require refrigeration!) It's nothing they haven't seen before, but they're all nice things that will definitely get used.
