What is the most random gift your children have ever got you?

DH and I obviously help our primary aged children with appropriate gifts for birthdays, Christmas. But they like to do their own thing too.

Last birthday, I opened an "extra" gift from 6yo DD2. It appeared to be a scrap of blue latex. Closer inspection showed it was the tied-off end of a defunct balloon.

She was absolutely swelling with pride - "I got you a balloon, but this way, you don't need to worry about it bursting and making you jump!"

Very thoughtful in its way. What are your best random child offerings?

My DS aged 11 borrowed a fiver and gave me a pair of fishnet tights from one stop

I wonder what I've got from my 12yo...

My DD2 is awesome at getting me presents. My best was when she brought home a tissue her teacher had got abroad and was giving away as she knows sometimes I bite my fingers and make them bleed so she got me the tissue to mop up the blood. She is an angel.

When I was about 6yrs old, I bought my DM a lemon squeezer for Christmas or maybe her birthday. My DGM let me choose, helped me wrap it up. I've just realised that I've never seen her use it or seen it in her kitchen, grrrr. That was a waste of my pocket money!

I may be 54 now, but I remember being so proud that I'd chosen that by myself!

MIL has a random wire sheep which then toddler DS saw in the garden centre once and said, with huge enthusiasm, “Granny needs that. Can you buy it for her”. To this day, none of us know why he thought that but it sits in pride of place on her mantelpiece.
